Proposal Engineer, Construction & Planning

We work in a fast-paced environment, where the difference between winning and losing is marginal. We are currently looking for a Proposal Engineer with extensive construction management skills to join our proposal department.

The Winning Concept
As Proposal Engineer, Construction & Planning, you are responsible for developing the construction schedules, estimating the costs and specifying the construction, test & commissioning of power plants of different technologies. Our product range includes technologies such as reciprocating engines, biomass and waste-to-energy plants at different sites in Caribbean Islands, Western Africa, South America and the United Kingdom. The right candidate will be equally challenged on acquiring technical knowledge as well as identifying country specific conditions in order to affect the project construction costs or the execution of the construction project.

In cooperation with the team specialists in mechanical, electrical and civil engineering, you develop the winning concept, challenge “business-as-usual” minded thinking and prepare cost estimates. The overall aim is to ensure that BWSC remains competitive on the market.

As Proposal Engineer, Construction & Planning, you will primarily be responsible for:

• Participating in developing layouts for sales projects Developing principles and guidelines for installation of large components
• Preparing Bill of Quantities for mechanical & electrical installation and/or acquiring local cost prices for labor and construction equipment
• Estimating project construction costs for mechanical & electrical erection and test & commissioning
• Ensuring that projects are budgeted in accordance with our ambitious QHSE requirements
• Preparing preliminary construction schedules and labor histograms for the projects
• Reviewing and preparing technical specifications describing erection and test & commissioning work
• Liaising with the executing construction and test departments
• Follow up on estimated vs realized costs of construction budgets

To become a success in the position it is a prerequisite that you have experience with site & construction management, but also flair and interest for cost estimating and specification work.

We are a project oriented company with a high degree of cross discipline cooperation. We work in a highly international and dynamic environment. Occasional shorter travels to sites will occur, but the main workplace is BWSC head office in Allerød, Denmark.

The position offers the right candidate to grow within business critical decision making, cost benefit analysis, proposal project management and offer opportunities for advancement and job rotation to other business areas in the company.

Driven engineer with on-site experience
You have experience from sites of large scaled construction sites, either as Site Manager, Supervisor or foreman – preferably from the marine, power or offshore industry. Detailed knowledge and experience in managing construction sites of steam or diesel power plant projects will obviously be an advantage. You have an educational background within mechanical, electrical or civil engineering or similar.

You are proficient within Microsoft Excel and it is an advantage if you are proficient with Microsoft Project. You speak and write English at a high technical level. Language skills in French or Spanish will be an advantage.
