The DTU National Food Institute is one of the leading scientific environments in the world for studying causal effects of endocrine disrupters and mixture effects of chemicals in laboratory animals, as well as in cellular and computer models.
We want to strengthen the scientific area of reproductive toxicology by a professorship focusing on the mechanistic actions as well as on how to use the science in risk assessment for regulators for the benefit of the unborn child and society. We want to make an impact on the European initiatives with identifying key events in adverse-outcome-pathways as well as establishing methods to grouping of chemicals for risk assessment.
The institute is engaged in research, consultancy for national and international agencies as well as education of new generations within toxicology. The field of endocrine disrupters with predicting and modelling of combination effects have been a very important area in toxicology for the last decades. Excellent science and communication to many stakeholders are needed to prevent adverse effects from exposure to chemicals in the unborn child.
Responsibilities and qualifications
You are expected to manage a research group for Reproductive and Molecular Toxicology with about 20 staff members.
You should have a clear vision for the research field, the development of the research group and the collaboration within DTU and abroad.
You will be involved in scientific advice for authorities as well as working closely with industrial partners.
You are expected to take a lead role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
You should have a clear strategy for which collaborators at other research institutions to engage with, with which industries to initiate collaboration with, and how to provide advice to governmental agencies on the newest knowledge in the field.
You should be an experienced leader of toxicology research projects and have solid experience with management of research and staff.
Key requirements include:
- Excellent impact on scientific community within reproductive toxicology seen from peer-reviewed publications
- Excellent track-record in attracting funding nationally and internationally
- Experience with how to manage a team of researchers
- Experience with how to develop research talents
- Experience with risk assessment for governmental agencies
- Experience with teaching at several levels
DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

- Research impact and experience, funding track record and research vision
- International impact and experience
- Societal impact
- Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
- Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
Starting date will be according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
