The position as professor is a permanent faculty post. 

The department particularly welcomes expertise in the areas of energy, climate change or transportation. Excellent candidates within all fields of applied economics, such as environmental economics, welfare economics, industrial organisation, econometrics and urban economics are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities and tasks
The professor will carry out excellent research with a focus on energy, climate or transportation. The key responsibilities are:

  • Research leadership in order to strengthen and develop the profile and international visibility of the department
  • Guidance and supervision of early career researchers
  • External collaboration with academia, the industry and public agencies
  • Teaching and supervision at under graduate and graduate level
  • Attracting grants and initiate and secure external funding for new projects
  • Especially, in the case of transportation, involvement in public sector advice can be expected

The professor will furthermore collaborate with other research groups at DTU.

The successful candidate is expected to take a lead role in teaching at BSc, MSc, and PhD level. For international candidates, DTU can provide Danish language courses enabling the candidates to teach in Danish within 2-3 years.

Requirements and qualifications
The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • A high level of original scientific production at international level, which has contributed to further development of the area 
  • Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development 
  • Collaboration with industry and /or public authorities 
  • Experience in designing and preparing successful applications for public or private funding of large research projects 
  • Documented experience in research management, including the handling of management assignments in national or international projects, research programmes, conferences etc. 
  • Experience with the supervision and guidance of PhD students
  • Communication skills 

Candidate assessment
In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to:

  • Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development
  • Research impact and experience, funding track record and research vision 
  • Societal impact
  • Documented innovation activities, including commercialization and collaboration with the industry
  • International impact and experience
  • Leadership and collaboration
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

Who are we?
DTU Management conducts excellent research in the intersection between management, technology and economics. We develop solutions in close cooperation with companies and public authorities. The department’s research is divided in four divisions: Innovation, Management Science, Sustainability and Transport. Furthermore, the department hosts a UN Collaborating Centre. The UN DTU Partnership conducts research, policy analysis and advising on a global scale.
