Production Engineer, Laser-based Medical Devices

Norlase is a fast-growing medical device company, founded by Danish and US serial entrepreneurs and backed by VC-investors. Based on proprietary break-through technology, we have developed a nextgeneration laser medical device. We recently received our FDA clearance and are introducing the device to the market this summer. We are a fast-moving team, combining cutting-edge technological knowledge with executive experience from the industry. In the past 36 months, we have grown from 3 to 18 full-time employees and we are now scaling our production facilities in the greater Copenhagen area (Ballerup).

Production scaling will be a major challenge. We therefore want to expand the team with a talented individual who is eager to learn and shares our passion for making an impact. You will be part of an expert production team, handpicked from the biggest medical device and photonics companies in Denmark. Your focus will be the production of the optical modules at the heart of our device. You will face a wide range of challenges, from very hard technology problems to routine activities that must be continually optimized. You can expect to go home tired, fulfilled and with a smile on your face every day.

Job description
As production engineer in our company, you will play a crucial role on our route to success. You will work closely with the engineering team and production technicians. The product is an advanced medical laser system, which requires precision manufacturing and complex assembly processes. Your primary goal will be to develop, operate and maintain the laser module production line and processes, with a focus on ensuring consistency, quality and increased output. Over the next 2 years, you will be part of scaling to high-volume production (1,000’s of systems pr. year), with a focus on cost and efficiency. You will need to acquire detailed understanding of our technology and product. You will be working with  our R&D engineers on implementation of product changes. You will furthermore be involved in transferring new products from development to production.

As part of a medical device company, the production methods, processes and documentation must be done in accordance with medical regulatory standards. Knowledge on production according to appropriate regulatory requirements and quality standards will be an advantage, but not a requirement.

Qualifications
As an applicant for this position, you are familiar with difficult and complex manufacturing processes. Our technology involves handling, positioning and mounting of delicate components to build laser systems.

Your qualifications must include:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc within Engineering (photonics, electronics, production) or similar
  • A keen interest in production processes in accordance with strict standards
  • Oral and written fluency in English
  • Personality: systematic and enthusiastic, with an entrepreneurial streak - drive and ambition are more important than experience for this position.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate would have:

  • Experience in manufacturing complex, high-tech products, involving electronics and/or photonics
  • Experience with medical device production and/or ERP systems
  • Experience in growing a production operation from single-line to volume production
