Do you want to develop new technologies that make a difference in the world? And do you thrive in a collaborative and empowered work environment, where you are responsible for your own work?

At Ibsen Photonics we have gathered a team of experienced and highly motivated employees. We have been recognised as a high growth Gazelle company in both 2018 and 2019 – and our growth continues in 2020.

Ibsen is a leading manufacturer of optical diffraction gratings and spectrometers.
Our core technology is optical diffraction gratings. We supply gratings to companies and research institutions worldwide, and build them into compact spectrometer modules for use in medical and pharmaceutical instruments, wind turbines, and many other applications.

Join our engineering team in developing new technologies to support our grating production.
As Process & Equipment engineer you will be part of our grating team, working with design and production of transmission gratings in our class 10 cleanroom. We work with prototypes, pilot series, and high volume production, and we achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications in 2018.

Your main responsibility will be to specify new equipment for new or improved processes, source it at the best supplier and ramp-up the equipment when installed at Ibsen Photonics. The grating team currently consists of 10 engineers and 12 technicians and you will have direct reference to VP Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Lars Bo Madsen.

We are a team of technical specialists. We strive to be the best in our field, constantly challenging and developing our technology and capabilities. We work in a dynamic environment, where we embrace diversity.” – Lars Bo Madsen

Customer needs are key
Your mission will be to enable efficient manufacturing processes by specifying new equipment that allow us to ensure a high and consistent quality of our products, and to increase our production capacity to keep up with an increasing demand from our international customer base.

The position is new, and we hope you will help us shape and form it to add maximum value.

You can look forward to:

  • developing process concepts and equipment design in collaboration with your colleagues
  • identifying, visiting and evaluating external suppliers/partners
  • specifying and building/commissioning new equipment for robust production, potentially in collaboration with external partners
  • facilitating test and validation of new equipment and processes, and releasing these for production
  • qualifying and validating critical processes in collaboration with QA and production, and maintaining documentation in close collaboration with your colleagues

We are all committed to building a viable business based on creating value for our customers. When we make mistakes, we learn from them, and inform our customers of potential implications. We believe this builds strong long term relationships with our customers.” – Lars Bo Madsen

Competent and motivated engineer
We are looking for a technically highly competent colleague, skilled with numbers and data analysis. You have professional pride, insisting on quality of your work and continuously upgrading your competencies, and you know how to structure your work in a complex environment.

  • You hold an engineering degree, preferably in optics, nanotechnology or process industry
  • You have a solid understanding of innovation, production processes, and quality assurance
  • You have specific experience within specifying, commissioning and ramping-up equipment
  • You are solution driven and able to navigate and prioritise complex challenges
  • You have a strong drive, and want to make a difference
  • You speak and write English

It is an advantage if you have experience from complex production processes - ideally within photonics – and you are used to documenting your work.

We are still a small company, but we have very clear ethical values – both in terms of how we manage the company, and how we interact with each other. It is extremely important for us to hire the right people.” – Lars Bo Madsen
