NIL Technology is growing, and we are soon starting to install our own cleanroom equipment. This requires an Engineer to be responsible for the processes that we run on the tools, as well as the tools themselves and the final details about the installation of the tools.

Your primary role will be to be part of our cleanroom production team in Denmark and to develop the processes to be run on our tools, as well as taking care of light maintenance and the contact with the tool suppliers regarding service. Furthermore, you will be responsible for setting up the guidelines and rules for how our tools are used, as well as setting up quality control schemes on the processes we certify on the tools. The primary tools will be an ICP etching tool installed in Denmark and a RIBE etching tool installed in Gothenburg Sweden. Thus, a fair amount of time should be expected to be spend at our Swedish office/cleanroom in Gothenburg. Both tools will be key tools in our operation in the future and therefore it is important to develop stable processes and guidelines that ensure stable processes. When required it will also be expected that you assist production or R&D with running processes on the tools.

In particular, it is an advantage if you have in-depth knowledge and experience with dry etching and dry etch processes and general cleanroom processing. As well, it is an advantage if you have experience with maintenance of cleanroom tools and characterization of samples by SEM, AFM and optical microscopy.

You will work closely together with colleagues in Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and US. You will be working out of our headquarters in Kongens Lyngby and be working in the DTU Nanolab cleanroom, as well as the MC2 cleanroom at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden.

You will be part of a company that offers a fast moving and busy work environment, where all opinions are valued together. We appreciate team spirit and mutual success very high. We have a profound “we win and we lose together” spirit which we value and culture.

  • Setup and maintain log-books on the tools
  • Train users in the use of the tools
  • Develop and tweak dry etch processes
  • Light maintenance of tools in close dialogue with the tool vendors
  • Coordinate annual maintenance on the tools
  • General cleanroom processing
  • Run quality control on the tools and tool processes
  • Follow, monitor and report changes in processes and timely communicate any deviations
  • Perform careful and detailed characterization
  • Openly discuss results, challenges and failures

  • Actively motivate knowledge sharing between team members

Must have

  • MSc or PhD in applied science or engineering (and you must be allowed to work in Denmark)
  • Extensive work experience from working with semiconductor process technology in cleanroom environments, and especially experience with fabrication of components by dry etch processes in silicon, silicon oxide and fused silica
  • Experienced with scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, profilometry and optical and confocal microscopy
  • In-depth understanding of semiconductor processing techniques (not only experience from using equipment, but understanding how the different process technologies work)
  • Open minded to work independently and in teams
  • Structured and analytical work approach
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ambitions and always strive to deliver best possible results and to make an extra effort
  • Curious personality who is always trying to find reasonable explanations and improve on perfection
  • Flexible and do not mind quickly to change daily operations when needed
  • Willing to travel when required

Your mission

  • From the start you need to show that you can work as a part of the team and be very collaborative with your colleagues
  • After 1-2 month, you should take over the lead on the current tool installation preparations
  • After 2-3 months, get all required training to work in the cleanroom in Gothenburg
  • After 2-3 months, you should have mapped what processes we need to develop on the new tools and what process parameters we would expect to be the best starting point for developing the processes
  • After 3 months, go to the tool vendors demo lab to get a head start on knowing the tools and to test some of our initial starting points for the processes we need to run
  • In parallel with above run the dialogues with the tool vendor and the cleanrooms regarding the installation of the tools
  • You will adapt to the NILT-team spirit where company/team success are above personal glory and achievements
