Principal Systems Engineer – take Coloplast product development to the next level by implementing systems engineering

Would you like to contribute to set the direction for product development in Coloplast as we move increasingly towards products of higher complexity and embedded solutions? And would you like to play a key part in integrating the systems engineering approach, allowing us to develop even better products for people with intimate health care needs worldwide?

“Our goal is to make our product development process even more reliable by identifying product needs and requirements up front. And you’ll be an important part of this,” says Director of Systems Engineering, Marie Sigurd Hasemann.

Join a brand new department
In our R&D, we have established a brand-new team, Systems Engineering, consisting of 10 systems engineers. All based in our headquarters in Humlebæk, we work on the new product development projects with the purpose of driving systems engineering activities as an integral part of product development.

Moreover, we are the ones to identify the product needs and requirements, collaborating closely with all stakeholders in the project. The goal is to have a smooth process with clarification up front, allowing us to create just the right product, whether it be within software, electronics, materials, mechanical design – or even all of them combined in an embedded solution.

"We have a really great vibe around moving into systems engineering. And even though we’re all out on different projects, we speak daily to share our knowledge and findings,” explains Marie.

Lead implementation of systems engineering best practices
As our new principal systems engineer, you will be dedicated to different product development projects. In short, you will be the systems engineering go-to-person, using applicable state of the art system engineering practices and processes. You will lead stakeholder needs and requirements activities across the organisation, planning and aligning their input with internal and external participants to ultimately map out the key requirements for a future product.

Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct workshops, interviews and analysis to elicit needs and requirements from internal and external stakeholders based on project needs
  • Establish, maintain and control needs and requirements
  • Oversee the status, completeness and quality of needs and requirements for the project
  • Facilitate design reviews
  • Ensure design controls during product development
  • Lead the implementation of systems engineering best practices in Coloplast and ensure continuous improvement by updating the organisation with global state of the art systems engineering knowledge.

”Your role will be pivotal in reaching to project stakeholders and understanding their needs, while you also advocate the importance of Systems Engineering. Moreover, you’ll need to analyse conflicting needs, create trade-offs and reach a compromise for all stakeholders involved,” says Marie.

Experience with systems engineering from embedded medical devices
As a person, you are good at putting your experience into play in order to reach out, start initiatives and be the first mover towards all your stakeholders. You are also a great networker who understands that issues are solved through collaboration, and you know how to create dialogue to reach a compromise.

Finally, we imagine that you:

  • Hold a master’s degree in engineering or life science
  • Minimum 3 years of experience from the medical device/life science industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with product development and systems engineering from embedded medical devices
  • Have solid experience working with multiple internal and external development partners
  • Are an excellent communicator and fluent in English, written and spoken
