Principal Specialist

Principal Scientist for downstream operation at our new Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMO) Site in Kalundborg. 

The team for you to join
You will join a production team at our new site in Kalundborg and collaborate with our colleagues in Germany. People skills combined with professionalism and the ability to communicate and engage with various professions are your keys to succeed in this position.

What would your role look like?
As Principal Scientist, you will be our lead driving force within Down Stream Process (DSP). You will be one of the pioneers within the HMO production at Chr. Hansen and work closely with stakeholders inside as well as outside the Chr. Hansen organization. Your will have a high focus on production performance and optimization to achieve our business targets. In a dynamic environment with focus on constantly improving our production you will optimize our capabilities, capacity, and performance through improvement activities together with a wide range of key stakeholders including our Pilot Plant in Germany. 

The following activities will also be among your areas of responsibility:

• Develop and implement long-term production strategy in DSP 
• Lead strategic and capex investment projects
• Handling and analyzing data 
• Define the user requirements for new equipment in Recovery and Purification 

In addition to the above, you will be involved in designing and building the new Site in Kalundborg in the coming years.  

Who are we looking for?
You hold a MSc in Chemical-, Biochemical- or Biotech Engineering, Food Science and Technology or similar and have at least 10+ years of industrial experience, preferably within recovery and purification processes.

We are looking for a Principal Scientist who can use scientific knowledge combined with an analytical mindset to solve every day large-scale production challenges and lead optimization opportunities. Our working environment is dynamic and thus you show the ability to quickly shift focus from a single assignment to e.g., overview of an entire DSP when needed. This also requires that you have a high degree of personal drive and the ability to overcome unforeseen barriers and create results. 

What do we offer you?
We offer you a great opportunity to be part of our new HMO family in Chr. Hansen and optimize our current HMO production processes but also the opportunity to build and start up the HMO site in Kalundborg. You will be a key player in one of Chr. Hansen’s largest strategic projects. 

You will be located at Kalundborg but with the opportunity to work from home or from our sites in Copenhagen or Roskilde 2-3 days per week. You should expect approximately 50 travel days per year in Europe.
