At the VELUX Group, we give you the chance to grow. To shape your own career. To work in an international environment. To be part of a company that leads the market in sustainable indoor living. Are you a chemical engineer, material scientist, skilled polymer technician or similar with a couple of years of industrial experience? And are you looking for an opportunity to evolve your talents among world-class specialists within applied material technology?

At VELUX® Material & Product Technology, you will have plenty of opportunity to build on both your competencies and your career within a world-leading company that does not compromise on quality.

Your challenges
You will become part of Material & Product Technology, responsible for the specification and development of VELUX product materials. Here, you will join the Polymer & Coating Technology team where we improve existing and develop new materials in thermoplastics, thermosets, coatings and composites for our products.

You will work alongside 3 international senior specialists within thermoplastics, thermosets and coatings respectively. Here, you will take on a hands-on role, supporting our specialists. Primarily, you will assist our thermoplastics specialist and work with materials such as PVC, polypropylene, polyamide and related processes such as extrusion and injection moulding.

Assisting the senior specialists and the rest of the organisation, you will:

  • Collaborate internally on troubleshooting, material specification, testing, documentation and approval of materials and components
  • Collaborate with external material suppliers and scientists on new technologies
  • Assist on approving new suppliers
  • Collect and prepare samples for testing, independently execute test plans and report in an accurate and timely manner.

You will work primarily from Østbirk, but you will also visit our factories and labs in Skjern and Thyregod. Furthermore, this role entails 20-25 days of travel a year to visit suppliers, test institutes and VELUX production sites across Europe.

Your qualifications
You are a self-driven team player who is happy to assist the team and the rest of the organisation in various day-to-day tasks. You enjoy hands-on work in the production and in the lab, and you are curious and have an analytical mindset when troubleshooting. As working with new materials implies a lot of uncertainty, you need to thrive exploring the unknown. It is also important that you know how to balance thoroughness with productivity to get things done. Moreover, we imagine that you:

  • Are a chemical engineer, polymer engineer, plastic engineer, material scientist or equivalent
  • Have 2+ years of relevant industrial experience within polymer and related processes
  • Have knowledge and experience within physical and chemical testing
  • Have experience with statistics and/or AutoCAD - though it is not a prerequisite
  • Have excellent oral and written communications skills in English - preferably also in Danish

Your opportunities
You will join a high-performance team of experts, driven by curiosity and by generating significant business impact. Thus, you will have plenty of opportunity to absorb unique knowledge and expertise and develop your talents within the VELUX Group.

“For the ambitious candidate, this is a great opportunity to learn from the best and gain hands-on experience within polymer technology,” says Director Sverre Simonsen who looks forward to welcoming you.
