PMO project manager - Copenhagen site

We are looking for an experienced project manager to lead cross functional, tactical and strategic projects within Global Operations on a local and global level. This fulltime, permanent position is located at the world’s largest bacterial fermentation site in Copenhagen, Denmark. You will have the opportunity to prove your people and project management skills in a matrix organization undergoing rapid and significant change. The position requires an ability to navigate through sometimes unclear situations to meet challenging deadlines and success criteria. There will often be multiple stakeholders to work with to insure goal alignment. You will be expected to bring teams together to solve complex problems and projects that come with high performance expectations.  

This will be the first PMO project manager for the Copenhagen site. The site continues to expand with multiple large-scale investment and business projects in the planning phase. Numerous opportunities are available to be a key contributor to the success of the site, the company, and the building of an outstanding global operations PMO team.  

Your tasks  

  • Lead project teams to implement operational projects that could include new or modified existing equipment systems, processes and/or systems across multiple operational or business areas
  • A primary role of our project managers will be to effectively drive change through project work
  • Lead the management of the Copenhagen operations project portfolio for the site management team and ensure project management tools are utilized to complete projects on time, within budget and that meet project requirements
  • Train and coach project leaders and project team members to increase overall organizational project management skills and project effectiveness.  
  • Build the project management framework and toolbox at the Global operations level based on PMI methodology
  • Host global project management network sessions and ensure cross-learning between sites and businesses areas to increase the overall project management skill level in the organization
  • Ensure effective communication and build strong relationships with all project stakeholders
  • Consults with management and reviews project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources  

Your personal profile  

  • Bachelor degree in Science, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred.  
  • Project management certification, such as PMP highly desired - We use the PMI methodology in our PMO
  • General knowledge about business management fundamentals within Finance, Marketing, Sales, and R&D to be combined with in depth knowledge within Operations Management
  • Min. 5 - 7 years project management experience with a proven track record working with tactical and strategic projects
  • Experience within a Food or Processing industry or a process-driven manufacturing environment a plus
  • Skilled at problem solving, conflict resolution, influencing others and change management
  • Strong verbal, written, communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills required as the Project Manager is a key influencer in our organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form to all levels (operator to executive) of the organization as well as vendors/suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work under limited direction in a local and global cross-functional environment, manage multiple conflicting priorities, and be comfortable with ambiguity

The Project/Portfolio Manager will report to the Global PMO Manager and be part of a global team consisting of project managers in Europe and the US. This team is already working closely and quickly to build the Global PMO team. It is now involved in many key investment and business projects that are part of the strategic plan. As the rest of the organization grows in its understanding of the role of the PMO, the demand for its services is rapidly expanding.
