Ph.D. Student for catalytic oxidation of dioxins
We offer a challenging position as industrial Ph.D. student in Clean Air R&D where we work on development and optimization of heterogeneous catalysts and catalytic processes for the cleaning of exhaust gases from power plants, refineries and the chemical industry. The project will study and develop catalysts for catalytic oxidation of dioxins in flue gas from industrial processes.
Haldor Topsøe is a leading global supplier of sustainable process technologies and catalysts for refineries, and chemical processing plants – a position achieved through a unique combination of research, process design, sales, and production. Sustainability is on the strategic agenda in Topsoe - with the purpose of Perfecting Chemistry for a better world and a vision of being recognized as the global leader in carbon emission reduction technologies by 2024.
The PhD project is supported by Innovation Fund Denmark and carried out in collaboration with Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark under the supervision of Prof. Anker Degn Jensen.
Your responsibilities
In order to establish an improved understanding of the fundamental principles for catalytic oxidation of dioxins, the work will include;
- Catalyst synthesis
- Characterization and testing of catalysts
- Development of reaction kinetics and reaction mechanisms.
You
- possess excellent skills to evaluate and communicate results
- enjoy working hands-on and are strongly engaged in laboratory work
- possess a strong drive and are prepared to challenge the approach
- enjoy working independently and take responsibility for your work
- thrive in a challenging and dynamic working environment.
Qualifications
You have a master’s degree in chemical engineering or similar and a strong background in chemical reaction engineering and catalysis. Excellent skills in written and spoken English are required.
The candidate must be approved as a Ph.D. student by the Technical University of Denmark before employment, so it is important you attach an overview of your grades.
