We are looking for a part time employee to help in different tasks related to analysis and reporting of chemical data to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Moreover, it is also a possibility the involvement of the candidate in projects funded by EFSA in relation to the coordination and development of different tools used for quality check and transformation of national data into EFSA specific code.

The job
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (FVST) performs national monitoring campaigns for different chemicals such as pesticides, antibiotics and contaminants in food products. The data produced is encoded in a national coding system, which needs to be transformed into the EFSA format, called SSD2 format. For this task, a program developed in-house in SAS is able to extract data from the FVST databases, transformation into SSD2 format and quality check based on the different EFSA business rules. The data produced is then used for different reports such as quarter and annual reports in the case of pesticides. The translation from the Danish format into the SSD2 format is made with a high number of catalogues, which need to be constantly updated with materials supported by EFSA. The update of the catalogues is currently done by hand and hence it is high labour intensive. The objectives of this job is:

  •  The improvement of the current system with the creation of automated tools that substitute manual work.
  • Creation of tools that flag when a catalogue has been updated by EFSA.
  • Development of tools for better accessibility and visualization of data to be used by risk assessors in the FOOD institute.
  • Help in the development and adaption of European tools into the Danish system.

Our expectations of you
We are looking for a part time employee - for instance a student at the end of their education, or recently graduated, in the field of data science or equivalent.  We expect you to be proactive, be able to work autonomously and skilled in analysis of large datasets.
