Ambu develops, manufactures and sells medical devices. Millions of patients and healthcare professionals depend on the functionality and performance of Ambu’s products worldwide. We are looking for an Engineer for our Front-end System Innovation team who would like to participate in shaping the future success of Ambu.

Key responsibilities as Optical Engineer
High product performance is our trademark, and you will play an important role in further optimising performance by developing optical solutions for Ambu’s single-use scopes camera modules. You will work closely with our lens suppliers and you will closely coordinate with our hardware function, our marketing department and our customers.
 
Your primary tasks will be

  • Design, characterize and integrate the lenses into CMOS camera modules.
  • Analysis and test of the optical element's influence on the image quality characteristics of the camera module.
  • Provide image analysis assistance to the project groups during development.
  • Development through the use of external partnerships.
  • Communicate plans and results to the global innovation team.
  • Drive development of advanced test methods.

Experienced in image processing
To be considered for this position, you need to hold a Masters of Science in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering and 3+ years’ of medical device experience. You need to have a deep understanding of optical systems and you need to have the ability to perform optical and image quality characterization of the lens and the camera module. Additionally you need to have hands-on experience with building electro-optical setups, lens characterization methodology, development through external partners and Matlab simulations of optical systems.
 
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who has a strong sense of detail with a proactive and flexible mind-set combined with the ability to plan, execute and meet deadlines. You manage to focus, prioritise and document the result of analysis and test in technical reports. As you will be working with external development partners worldwide, it is of great importance that you have excellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills, including multicultural awareness and sensitivity, ideally within Asian culture. Furthermore, using methods and tooling for a structured approach is also natural to you.
 
It is essential that you have excellent English communication skills, both written and oral, and that you are willing to travel approximately 20 days per year.
