We offer a portfolio of pioneering technologies that contribute to a carbon-neutral world: In the maritime sector, this means developing and providing the technology that will enable global shipping to be powered by bio-fuels and carbon-neutral fuels such as methanol and ammonia that have been derived from renewable energy sources.

As a direct consequence of our strategic goals, we are boosting and restructuring the hydraulics and fuel injection functional area of R&D for marine two-stroke engines. If you want to help us moving big things to zero and make a real difference in the decarbonization of the shipping industry, contributing as expert in development of Hydraulics and Fuel Injection equipment might be the perfect next step for you.

We are looking for an mechatronics expert preferably with experience from R&D, who has the skill and motivation to drive the specification and testing of our hydraulic valves. The valves are used for on-engine power hydraulics components and systems for exhaust valve actuation and fuel injection within our large portfolio of MAN B&W two-stroke engines. Furthermore, you will participate in full scale tests on test-rigs and prototype engines.

You’ll will play an important role in:

You:

  • Prepare and develop experimental setups for test of control valves.
  • Document test results and ensure new control valves meet the requirements.
  • Are the contact point towards vendor regarding new prototype control valves.
  • Prepare measurement setups and execution of tests. This includes calibration of measurement equipment, establishment of measurement setup, data acquisition and result analysis.
  • Participate in tests on our test rigs in Copenhagen and also travel to prototype engines at our licensees typically in Japan and South Korea. Tests are carried out to find the right parameter settings and ensure the system functionality. E.g. for new hydraulic controlled exhaust valve actuation systems or new injection systems.
  • Cooperate with a wide range of departments. Share knowledge and experience and hereby contribute significantly to the success of the development of new technologies.
  • Work primarily in our Research Center in Copenhagen, however, 30-50 travel days per year typically to our licenses in Japan and South Korea must be expected.

We imagine that you:

  • Have a M.Sc. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Are an expert in one or several of the fields: power hydraulics, mechatronics, hydraulic valves, control technique or automation.
  • Have electronic and mechanical hands-on skills and enjoy varied work.
  • Drive bigger tasks as technical lead.
  • Have moderate scripting skills - often we would use python for scripting.
  • Are a team player, structured and have good communication skills.
  • Are curious to learn new things and open to new ideas

Welcome to Hydraulic Prototype Testing
You will join the Hydraulic Prototype Testing Department within the functional area Hydraulics and Injection Development of two-stroke R&D that is responsible for developing fuel injection/admission concepts and design prototypes for fuel equipment, hydraulic components and systems. As a mechatronics expert you will be a part of a very dedicated team of 8 skilled colleagues with different background.

The team is testing new components and systems, in particular exhaust valve actuation and injection systems of various principles. We test on both physical real-sized test-rigs and on prototype engines including measurements, data analysis, documentation and feedback. In our own workshop in Copenhagen we have 7-8 test-rigs. We have our own office with a good view to the workshop where we also build-up new test-rigs.

We have good collaboration as a team but also cross-organizational regarding testing work and development of new components and systems. The working atmosphere is relaxed and all are committed to succeed as a team by being supportive and flexible. There is space for creativity and to play with new ideas.
