Mechanical Engineer - R&D Front Office, Odense, Denmark

Mechanical Engineer - R&D Front Office, Odense, Denmark
You will be part of our R&D Front Office team and have 20 professionals as your nearest colleagues in Odense and more than 130 colleagues in our R&D department. Your colleagues are experts in many different areas such as mechanical design, embedded programming and user-friendly graphic interfaces. Your new work environment is characterized by an informal atmosphere where we help each other regardless of our areas of specialization.

The Front Office team is responsible for supporting internal and external customers, including coordination with Supply Chain, Service and Quality departments regarding bug-fixes, re-designs, adjustments and product releases. You will also be expected to be able to collaborate with the rest of the R&D (Back Office) development teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
As Mechanical Engineer in our team, you must be confident enough to take part in the overall responsibility for the mechanics in the robot by putting your knowledge and experience directly into the development and implementation of the robots. You will become part of a high-performance team, which is jointly responsible for devising and developing new robot mechanical designs in close collaboration with software and electronics. You will be part of the Front Office Team within the R&D Department - a job that requires accommodating behavior and an out-going and positive personality.

Your primary assignments:

  • Product maturing and internal product support to all departments
  • 3D design in Solid Works of all the mechanical robot parts (plastics and metal parts, cables, etc.)
  • Simulation of mechanical components
  • Preparation and maintenance of drawings
  • Preparation of test specifications
  • Designing prototypes and 0-series
  • Ongoing optimization of prices, weight, strength, etc.
  • Quality assessment and selection of suppliers (in close cooperation with the procurement department)

We expect you to be flexible and a fast-learner as our set-up is continuously evolving. You are excited about development and results, and you have an analytical approach to your work. You are structured and know how to work independently as well as part of a team. You thrive in a busy working environment and like solving complex tasks.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required:
We picture you as a mechanical engineer with at least 3-5 years of experience from a similar position and preferably also a craft background. It is key to us that your experience and intelligence enable you to develop mechanics that work the first time. You write and speak English fluently.

Being part of Universal Robots and the Front Office Team within the R&D Department requires you to be:

  • BSc in mechanical engineering - preferably also an MSc in engineering
  • Project management skills as Six Sigma green belt
  • Motivated by solving complex challenges in a hectic working environment
  • Accommodating and outgoing
  • Development- and result-oriented with a performance driven approach
  • Adaptable to changes, flexible and a fast-learner
  • Independent and strong but still a team-player
  • Great overview with good coordination skills
  • Structured approach with general knowledge within the use of DFM, Robust design, DMAIC, 8D, etc.
  • Knowledge in working with Axapta and PLM-systems as Bluestar and Team Center
