Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development

In the rapidly expanding Integrated Product Development Department at ProInvent A/S, we help our clients develop the next generation of competitive products, through close collaboration and partnership. We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer that are ready to take on an exciting career and help our customers brings products faster to market, through a holistic and data driven approach - backed by strong theoretical and practical knowledge.

In the position you will get the opportunity to work within product development of medical devices for some of the world leading companies in the industry – either inhouse on projects or stationed at clients. Our team consist of top-tier profiles of diverse educational backgrounds with expertise within mechanical design, injection moulding, design for manufacturing, robust design, test method development, scientific development, design control, software, hardware, project management, manufacturing etc.

Your responsibilities and duties
As Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible for leading and delivering mechanical product designs, including 3D models and 2D drawings. As part of a cross-functional team, you will need to balance the different requirements (Marketing-, Business-, Performance- and production needs) to encircle the right solution. Through an understanding of the bearing pillars of Design Thinking you will ensure that futile concepts and directions are identified and discarded early. You will ensure that the different functionalities of the product are designed and verified via a structured DFM approach and that all design choices are documented accordingly. Utilising the production of prototypes of suitable levels, you will support and substantiate the selection of designs. Through test and analysis, you will support the project in making qualified decisions. With the end user in mind, you search through multiple sources to understand the user needs and to translate these into substantiated practical solutions. You will take part in projects from early ideation, through concepting and design freeze until production process freeze.

You have a trace of creativity, critical reflection and view problems from a holistic perspective. You are confident enoug in your general proficiency to reach out to colleagues when in doubt or when recognizing a particular higher level of expertise in a colleague. You appreciate and insist on quality of work and do not succumb to questionable fast track practices.

As Mechanical Design Engineer in our product development department at ProInvent you will be challenged with tasks and problems of a diverse nature – mixing academic bureau work with practical workshop tasks and user engagement. You will have access to utilize our well-equipped inhouse prototype workshops including e.g., high quality 3D print and injection moulding. Experience and competencies

• Masters or diploma degree in mechanical engineering or other related field
• Minimum 4 years of mechanical engineering experience. Experience with medical device is an advantage
• Expert knowledge of solid and surface 3D modelling (SolidWorks, Creo or Inventor)
• Strong knowledge of designing high volume plastic components
• Experience with tolerance chain analysis
• Experience in developing electromechanical medical devices is an advantage
• Strong experience in 2D drawings and specification settings (for injection molding and other relevant design measures is an advantage)
• Identification and translation of user needs into technical requirements
• Experience in development test methods and using tests and data to substantiate design selection
• A creative mind with a strong ability to visualize solutions and the ability to derive the full implication of different technical solutions.
• Critical reflection on fundamentals and assumptions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
