It takes the brightest minds to be a technology leader. It takes imagination to create green energy for the generations to come. At Siemens Gamesa we make real what matters, join our global team.

Siemens Gamesa has a vision for renewable energy: we believe in the power of nature and technology. Help us to be ready to face the energy challenges of tomorrow and make a green footprint – join us in creating a better future for our planet.

We focus on hiring the best people, wherever they may be in the world. We pride ourselves on the flexibility we offer to our employees and are committed to building a workforce that can grow with the company. Siemens Gamesa is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

In our culture of trust, we focus on empowerment, diversity and continuous learning. Valuing our people is what makes us one global team, with our colleagues’ safety at the heart of our organization.

For our Offshore R&D Hub Department within the Technology organization, we are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Hub is one of the main, large components of a wind turbine; its function is to be the interface part between the blades and the mechanical drivetrain. The Hub assembly contains a varied group of components, ranging from large bearings and casted components to various turbine critical safety systems and small, hydraulic components.

The Hub rotates…. so it primarily sees dynamical loads. We apply great caution in setting high, mechanical design requirements to all mechanical components in our wind turbines, this especially goes for the Hub where thoroughness and ingenuity is driving designs that avoid failures caused by extreme and fatigue loads...

So, if you have a desire to sharpen your skills within component development, using cutting edge analysis and development tools – or if you come with excellent analysis and component development knowledge from previous jobs, then here is your chance to fully live them in a dynamic and multicultural R&D environment in a very large and international organization within wind power - with an ambitious goal to further optimize our contribution to cost efficient, green energy solutions. .

How to contribute to our vision
When you work as a R&D Mechanical Design Engineer in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy you will be responsible for driving a component development through the complete engineering value chain:

Concept development of subsystems and components in various materials like steel, aluminum, casted iron, composites and plastics -> verifying your ideas by simple structural calculations and design reviews with main stakeholders -> spar Supply Chain during manufacturing and assembly -> ensure an efficient installation when prototype is erected, enable and contribute to Turbine test and verification and finally, ensuring a product ready for handover to serial production.

Our design tool is NX Siemens PLM and Teamcenter handles our PDM - and you will mainly be using GPS-, D-FMEA-, EHS Design Risk Assessment-, and Tolerance Stack Analysis tools during your design work.

What you need to make a difference
Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change.

We are also looking for a future colleague having a bachelor or master´s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience within product development and mechanical design engineering. Alternatively, you are a highly skilled recent graduate with an educational track record to show for it.

Besides being an experienced user in 3D/2D (preferably NX Siemens PLM) you also have good knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting/forging and welding) and if you have a craftsman education as e.g. blacksmith, industrial technician, toolmaker/machinist or auto mechanic this is considered an advantage.

As a person you are a self-starter, structured and a proactive problem solver that thrives with team work but also has the self-discipline to work and perform at an individual level – but generally you have a strong desire and ability to drive improvements and change, at times working under time pressure and pushing technical boundaries.

Lastly, we assume you have strong communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.

In return of your commitment we offer you…
Become a part of our mission for sustainability: Clean energy for generations to come. We are a global team of diverse colleagues who share a passion for renewable energy and have a culture of trust and empowerment to make our own ideas a reality. We focus on personal and professional development to grow internally within our organization. Siemens Gamesa offers a wide variety of benefits such as flexible working hours as well as home-office possibility for many colleagues, employer-funded pension, attractive remuneration package (fixed/variable) and local benefits such as subsided lunch, employee discounts and much more
