Leading major technology shifts with intelligent audio solutions
As our new Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of our Concept Factory team within GN Hearing, Global R&D. As our 4th team member, you and our industrial designers are responsible for concept creation and innovation in the very early development stages of GN hearing aids and accessories – solutions that allow our users to hear more, do more and be more than ever thought possible. 

Create new concepts for mechanical designs
As part of cross-functional technology concepting teams, you will collaborate with R&D partners, audiologists, acousticians and our product development departments in China, US and Denmark to mature new product concepts.

You will be responsible for the early concept creation of all mechanical parts, including components and architecture, continuously considering how they fit with the design in e.g. plastic, metal, rubber, etc.

To ensure excellent concept creation, you will:
• Create a wide range of concepts to select from in the decision processes
• Design new concepts in 3D in PTC Creo including design details, usability, materials, manufacturing requirements, etc. 
• Test and validate concepts and prototypes at different maturity levels, often with end-users
• Ensure that we stay on top of technological developments by analyzing our competitors’ technical solutions
• Support a feasible industrial design, ensuring that it is realistic and innovative at the same time 

This role will take you travelling 5-10 days a year, primarily to Xiamen and Chicago where you will collaborate with suppliers and colleagues and explore new technology.

Experienced engineer with a creative mind
You have a curious, explorative and innovative mindset and are able to start a concept creation process even though there initially may not be clear targets and requirements. Also, you know how to be realistic in terms of customer needs and manufacturing realities, and you are not afraid to kill your darlings to come up with even better ideas. 

Moreover, we imagine that you:
• Ideally have 5+ years of experience with early concept creation for mechanical and electronic solutions for consumer products
• Are a highly experienced 3D CAD user – we use PTC Creo
• Preferably have experience working with plastic, metal, rubber and different prototype development technologies
• Speak and write English effortlessly
