Project Description
The 3Shape TRIOS intra-oral scanner is the front-runner in the digital revolution going on in the dentist clinics around the globe. Digital impression taking, and patient monitoring is becoming the golden standard within dentistry. The technical solution is evolving fast, but the current HCI (Human Computer Interface) still leave room for improvements. The multi-touch monitor can be operated using gloves, scanning progress is indicated using sound, a button has been added to the actual scanner and sensors in the scanner enables simple wand controls. However, the dental professional operating the intra-oral scanner keeps switching focus between the patients mouth and the computer monitor. This project would be to explore alternative solutions allowing the dental professional to keep focusing on the patients mouth throughout the scanning process. Technologies to consider could be eye tracking, gestures, voice control, head movements, etc.

Requirements
The project will last approximately 5 to 6 months and should be conducted as your master thesis project. You can write it alone or in groups. You should be a master student enrolled in the Computer Science, Software Development or other relevant programs. We expect from you to have a relevant knowledge and experience in the following fields:

• Experience with object-oriented programming languages, e.g. C# or C++
• Basic knowledge of HCI
• Insight into signal processing and image processing
