Low level Embedded Software Developer for industry leading chipset

Do you thrive on hardcore technical challenges and have what it takes to become part of an ambitious team that develops advanced proprietary multi-core Network-on-Chip IoT chipsets? Are you looking for a career where you actually help to make a real difference for millions of people worldwide? Then we have a unique opportunity for you!

In your new position you will be part of the Chipset Firmware Platform Group consisting of 17 highly skilled colleagues. The atmosphere is informal and humorous but at the same time extremely ambitious and we are not afraid to say that we have some of the best developers in town!

The challenge - maximum performance in a small package
Essentially, the challenge is to deliver the most advanced audio-enabled, wearable IoT device available, packed in a tiny package, running of a miniscule battery and living up to medical device standards. This means that you must be able to design safe C code that provides advanced functionality while taking up no space, using no current and providing real-time guarantees for the audio system. The firmware platform includes HW drivers, power management, RTOS integration and wireless audio protocol development (proprietary and BLE-based).

The impact of your work is huge as the proprietary Network-on-Chip based chipset you help develop is used in all Oticon hearing aids. You will be involved in the development all the way from IC design specification, through firmware platform development and release to in-market support.

In headlines, you will:

  • Design, develop and release firmware for our chipset
  • Contribute to the definition of the IC so it fits software needs
  • Master the challenge to develop firmware on a custom IC while it is under development

Our tool chain is comprised of a mix of custom and standard state of the art tooling, including nightly and weekly regression testing both in actual hardware and workstation emulation, along with tailored debug features.

Low level embedded software development
We are looking for experienced developers and for talented new-graduates.

We expect you to hold a relevant degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering and have experience with development of low-level embedded systems, specifically within the following areas:

  • Low-level embedded programming in C
  • Experience with real-time constraints, e.g. for audio streaming systems

It is an advantage to understand VHDL, which will enable you to dig into the IC to debug issues. This is relevant since we work on custom ICs, which have not been verified by a broad user base.

Linux knowledge will also be a plus, as it is our main development environment.
