As our new Senior Manager for the Engine Process Development area in Research & Development Two-stroke you will join MAN ES on an exciting journey to help decarbonize the world. We are the global market leader of energy efficient and fuel flexible large marine engine systems. We are looking for a Senior Manager who thrives in a challenging role to lead the Engine Process Development function.

We love what we do – and we want to make a difference in the world by providing state-of-the art engine technology to our Licensees, Owners and Operators that will help reduce CO2 and maximize earnings.

The Engine Process Development teams are covering all aspects from initial idea and concepts through engine performance layout and at the end validation of engine performance. You will lead teams of strong and dedicated specialists and be part of the two-stroke R&D senior management team where you will be able to directly influence our development roadmaps and what future development pathways should look like.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Continuous development of our future engine program to ensure that we maintain a competitive portfolio
  • Be curious and inspire own team and colleagues to challenge status quo
  • Be a role model in leadership and develop own team towards a culture of excellence
  • Develop meaningful, trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholder to drive innovation, anticipating changes in the customer behavior landscape and adjusting the strategic direction accordingly
  • Support, challenge and develop the department managers in order to get the best out of your teams
  • Priorities tasks, projects and resources across the area together with the departments managers
  • Ensure that the department maintains strong technical competencies by continuous development of the employees  

Qualifications
As our new Senior Manager, you have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and a natural flair for communication with candor and respect. You have great organizational skills and an ability to apply structure to a busy working day for yourself and your teams. An ability to know when to take the helicopter view, and when to dive down into the details and last but not least stamina to drive changes.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years’ experience in managing a team of highly skilled specialists.

You will be leading a department with around 45 highly qualified colleagues and you will be working in an environment where we are passionate about technology and innovation. We are an organization characterized by an informal atmosphere, with emphasis on a fun, collaborative and engaging working environment. While we are deeply dedicated to our tasks with high customer engagement, we maintain focus on preserving a healthy work-life balance.

We’re approx. 2.100 employees in Denmark. 1.400 colleagues are located at the Danish headquarters located next to the water in the area of Sydhavn (South Harbor) in Copenhagen. You’ll find our R&D center here, full of top-class technical capabilities for the development of innovative engines for ships and power plants across the globe. In the field of two-stroke engines, we’re the world’s leading knowledge center by far. We also have our largest after-sales service center (PrimeServ) here in Copenhagen, as well as our large IT department and a wide range of staff functions.
