At Chr. Hansen we are searching for an ambitious Laboratory Technician to join our Fresh Dairy department in Chr. Hansen Global Application, which is a part of our Food Cultures & Enzymes Division in Hørsholm. 

Chr. Hansen is a worldwide supplier of natural ingredients for the food industry and the department focus on the application of lactic acid bacteria and enzymes for fresh dairy products e.g. yogurt. 

The vacant position is in our Project & Competence team located in Denmark, which consist of thirteen employees and you will join a team of 5 technicians. We are an international team and work in a dynamic and positive atmosphere in modern office and laboratory facilities. 

The job is a 50:50 mixture of producing dairy samples in our pilot plant dairy with subsequent analyses of the samples and reporting of the results.  It is key that you have an interest for both disciplines as we believe that understanding customer products is important. As part of the project team, we collaborate closely with the responsible scientists in the projects, and we are involved on the whole value chain from planning, execution and reporting. Further, the team is involved in development of new key competences within fresh dairy.
  
A job focusing on dairy and microbiology 
You will primarily be working on the following type of tasks:

  • Production of fresh dairy (primarily yogurt) in our pilot dairy and laboratory scale fermentations.
  • Analyses of dairy products in relation to microbiology, viscosity, pH, texture, sensory, chemical composition etc. 
  • Preparation of experimental cultures samples in our GMP zone.
  • Planning, executing, reporting and concluding on analyses made in the laboratory in collaboration with the relevant scientist.
  • Engage in development of new methods and procedures.

Who are you?
You are trained as a laboratory technician, and it is important that you have a strong interest in both microbiology and food production.  You are skilled in working with microbiology and has interest in fermented dairy products. You are used to work in an environment, which has a high hygienic standard, and has experience within food production preferably with the use of bacterial cultures and enzymes. You have an eye for detail and perform with accuracy. It is an advance if you have experience with laboratory robots or digitalization.

You will need your open-minded approach towards partners and colleagues with other cultural and professional backgrounds and master English both written and oral. While collaboration is key to our success, you also need to thrive in handling your tasks independently and take initiative.
