Qualifications
We are looking for an intern who is passionate about stem cell research and in vivo work.

  • You are an excellent student and are currently enrolled either in your bachelor or master’s degree in veterinary medicine, cell biology, human biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or a similar field of studies.
  • You have completed a FELASA certification and have some hands-on experience within in vivo studies.
  • You have a keen interest in working with animals.
  • You are familiar with Excel and have flair for IT.
  • We expect you to be fluent and willing to communicate in English,
  • You are able to manage multiple tasks in parallel (with supervision) and have a sound personal judgement to take decisions during your daily work.

We expect you to have a well-structured and diligent approach at work, thrive in an innovative environment and bring a can-do attitude. Finally, you must have a strong work ethic and be willing to take responsibility for your own projects and progress.

About the department
You will be part of a dedicated team of scientists, laboratory technicians and student workers, focusing on the translation of stem cell-based therapies into the clinics. Promising proof-of-principle studies show that stem cell therapies can address unmet medical needs in a wide range of indications (e.g. implantation of dopaminergic neurons to treat Parkinson’s disease, or beta-cells to treat Type-1 Diabetes).  At our department, we conduct studies in animal models of disease to assess the efficacy and feasibility of cell transplantation methods, to support the progress of various projects, and contribute to the development of treatments that could change the lives of millions of patients around the world.
