Head of Research

Headquartered in Hillerød, Denmark, FOSS is an international family-owned company providing analytical equipment that helps to improve production processes and product quality in food and agricultural industries. The job
As Head of Research, you are responsible for the investigation of new applications and new technologies within FOSS’ business areas.
You will head a team of 8-10 persons, consisting of engineers, physicists and chemists, that continuously conduct proof-of-principle studies to reveal the feasibility of new ideas.
You will motivate, inspire and set the directions for the team, and  scope the new ideas together with the team members and R&D management.
Many new ideas are based on FOSS’ strategic intents or customers input, but you also have the responsibility to scout new ideas on your own initiative.
After a successful proof-of-principle study, you will drive the maturation of the idea with input from collegues in business development, concept design and technology, and hand over to the product development organisation.

Your background
You hold a masters degree and probably a ph.d. in engineering,  physics or similar, and have proven results establishing and driving collaborations between private companies and academia during the past 2-4 years.
Alternatively, you have relevant experience from a start-up company or entreprenural projects in corporate environments.
Preferably, your experience is within analytical devices or equipment, or you have knowledge of state-of-the-art data analysis, e.g. machine learning or AI.
