Headquartered in Hillerød, Denmark, FOSS is an international family-owned company providing analytical equipment that helps to improve production processes and product quality in food and agricultural industries. It is a core value to FOSS, to provide solutions to the industry that are market leading, and first of their kind.
As Head of Research, you are responsible for the investigation of new applications and new technologies within FOSS’ business areas in the food and agricultural industry. You will head a team of 8-10 people, consisting of engineers, physicists and chemists, who continuously conduct proof-of-principle studies to reveal the feasibility of new ideas. You will motivate, inspire and set the directions for the team, and scope the new ideas together with the team members and R&D management. Many new ideas are based on FOSS’ strategic intents or customers input, but you also have the responsibility to scout new ideas on your own initiative.
After a successful proof-of-principle study, you will drive the maturation of the idea with input from colleagues in business development, concept design and technology, and hand over to the new product development organisation.
You hold a masters degree and probably a ph.d. in food science, engineering, physics, chemistry or similar - and have proven results from a start-up company, entrepreneural or R&D projects in corporate environments.
Preferably, you have experience with development of chemical analysis equipment, or you have knowledge of state-of-the-art data analysis, e.g. machine learning or AI.
