What we offer
Do you want to work with technology that improves the life quality for millions of hearing impaired people worldwide? Do you want to be part of a dynamic team that works with the next generation of hearing aids? Are you thrilled by the challenge of getting audio-, radio- and digital-ASICs to function together in compact designs where every mm3 and µA counts? Then you may be the hardware design engineer, we are looking for as our new colleague.

Your Responsibilities
As Hardware Design Engineer, you will have the responsibility for the development of the electronics in next generation hearing aids. This includes conducting feasibility investigations, defining specifications, designing and maturing the solution and finally verifying the design.

  • The hardware design of Hearing Aids includes the following disciplines:
  •  Design and layout of analogue circuits (eg. power management, audio, low-power inductive radios).
  •  Design and layout of digital circuits (eg. I2C, SPI, I2S, UART, USB).[BLJ1]
  •  PCB and flex PCB layout, using Altium Designer.
  •  Layout of 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Low Energy radios in collaboration with RF and antenna designers.
  •  Tests measurements and verification.
  •  EMC & Safety design towards regulatory requirements.
  •  Design control and documentation, in compliance with medical device regulations.

You will ensure that the final product meets the standardized requirements for medical devices as well as Widex own requirements to sound quality and overall performance. Typical challenges you’ll meet as hardware designer are optimization of sound and radio performance while ensuring tight integration with highly compact mechanics design.

You will be working in a dynamic environment where contributions from many different stakeholders and professions need to be aligned to develop the best possible products for our customers.

You will be a part of an interdisciplinary project team that is responsible for the development of hearing aids within a certain product area. The team is a part of Global Research & Development in Widex, which consists of more than 300 highly skilled and motivated employees.

You
You have an education as an electronic engineer or similar, and you have practical experience within the following areas:

Specification and design of both digital, analogue and RF electronics - preferably including wireless communication and audio.

  • PCB/FPC design of highly integrated products
  •  Simulations of signal integrity.
  •  Measurements and verification of electrical performance.
  •  Documentation of design and test - preferably within compliance of medical device directive.
  •  Debugging of complex issues in cooperation with other disciplines.

You are used to have hands on and can use a soldering iron even when things get tiny. You have knowledge of using simulation programs as Spice, LabVIEW, Matlab etc. Spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope and other measurement equipment for electronics are intuitive to you. Your sense of interaction between electronics, mechanics, acoustics and software are good. You take responsibility for your tasks, while keeping an overview of not only your own tasks, but also to the tasks performed in other disciplines in the project.

As a person, you work structured and have a large drive to ensure success in a multidisciplinary project team. You are a team player, but able to work independently, when required. You have a passion for hardware design, and strive to deliver high quality solutions within the project scope.
