For our Grid Compliance Testing team, we are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Grid Connection Engineer. Grid Compliance is a part of the Offshore Electrical Drive Train R&D Department located in Denmark with colleagues working in Germany, France and India. The Team consists of test engineers as well as power system engineers. 

The team is responsible for the assessments and interpretation of relevant grid codes and grid connection standards as well as its coordination with the different Business Units. Further aspects of the grid code work are defining requirement specifications for WT development projects and to work on tools and processes to breakdown grid code requirements (usually specified at WPP level) to requirements for the various components in a WPP (e.g. the WT, WPP control) by means of simulations with available simulation models as e.g. DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD. A mayor part of the team’s work is the execution of all relevant electrical grid compliance measurements for WT’s (including component level- and sub-system level tests) developed by SGRE. The results of the grid code assessments will be utilized for development projects and as input for evaluation and assessment of measurement results of grid compliance tests. Furthermore, results are used for internal verification and validation as well as for external parties (e.g. customers, system operators and certification bodies to provide required certificates for specific markets). Other aspects of the work are the understanding and defining of new functionalities future WT’s need to provide to fulfill grid codes as well as the supporting the feature and parameter ownership for the features the team is responsible for. 

Quality and delivery as promised are key performance elements in the daily work to ensure best in class wind turbines for our customers.

This position includes the following tasks

  • Coordination, evaluation and assessment of relevant grid code requirements and grid connection standards
  • Represent SGRE in relevant international standardization activities as e.g. IECRE, WindEurope
  • Be responsible for grid codes within the R&D department and coordinate grid codes with other Business Units
  • Breakdown and transposition of grid code requirements by utilizing simulation models and tools – system studies
  • Ensuring the right quality of deliveries (assessment- or simulation reports) and deliver as promised to our internal and external projects and costumers
  • Specifying new features and functions WT’s and WPP need to provide to fulfill grid codes in relevant markets
  • Support defining test plans for new wind turbine measurement campaigns based on grid code knowledge

What you need to make a difference

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for candidates with the following profile

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar combined with some experience in the area of grid compliance of wind turbines and wind power plants or other electrical equipment
  • You have knowledge in the following areas: power systems, harmonics and flicker analysis, protection systems, wind turbines / wind power plants and grid connection requirements
  • Preferable you have experience with simulation tool (e.g. Matlab Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory or others) and programming experience (e.g. Matlab, Python or others)
  • You are result oriented, structured and a dedicated team player
  • You are able to work in an international and multi-cultural environment and can handle interfaces with numerous internal and external stakeholders
  • You possess good communication skills in general and excellent English skills both orally and in writing

There will be at least 15 travel days a year.
