Job Description:
Do you know C, want to work with embedded SW for constrained systems, and have a desire to learn from and be part of a team doing SW for large safety critical systems? If so, then you may be the candidate we are looking for.

We are looking for a new college to join a team of 8 SW developers (4 local and 4 remotely from Germany and US) working on the full SW stack for Ethernet switches used in the automotive and industrial industries. Both Switch SoC’s, PHYs and the evaluation boards are designed by Microchip, and most of it has been done by people in the same building. The SW environment is heavily influenced by constrained HW/SW resources, very fast boot requirements and SW process and regulation standards such as ASPICE/ISO26262/MISRA/IEC62443. The SW product we deliver includes everything from the first stage bootloader, operating system, configuration management and L2 switch protocols running on the embedded CPU.

You will be working mostly in the application layer where management interfaces and protocols are implemented. You will be involved in all the SW processes from understanding requirements, reading standards, doing specification, implementing the SW, doing initial testing and work with the test teams and support teams.

Microchip Denmark has an R&D site located in Herlev. We are a team of 35 engineers, developing Ethernet network switches for Enterprise, Industrial and automotive markets. The Denmark site represents all the engineering disciplines from initial product definition, RTL design, SW development, reference systems and technical support. Microchip Denmark is part of Microchip USB and Networking Group (UNG), which have sites in USA, India, Taiwan, and China.


  • Proficient in C and desire to work with Embedded SW development.
  • SW Requirement specification, including gathering input from standards, customers, and system engineering.
  • Being comfortable in working individually for periods of time while researching or developing new material
  • Being a good team player and able to work with other colleagues when needed/preferred.
  • Good English communication skills – written as well as oral.
  • A plus if you have experience with: Ethernet, SW security, Crypto algorithms and protocols, CoAP, NETCONF/YANG, PTP, GIT, MISRA, ASPICE, Functional safety standards, working with standardization bodies.
