DTU Engineering Technology invites applicants for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor in Power System Protection. Your background can be academic or from industry.

You will join the research group “Electric Energy” which currently consists of five colleagues with a mix of research and industry experience, expected to grow in the next years by addition of PhD-students and Postdocs. An ideal candidate is expected to have an excellent track record in most of the following topics:

  • Protection of AC and DC grids and microgrids
  • Advanced fault location and detection techniques in distribution systems and microgrids
  • Signal processing and machine learning applications in protection
  • Real-time and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation of microgrids and power systems using OPAL-RT, dSPACE or similar platforms

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be contributing to DTU’s strategic aim towards being Europe’s best engineering education. We provide courses and instruction that feed into a number of DTU’s Bachelor in Engineering Programmes (BEng) as well as a range of continuing education formats, including Diploma Programmes. Our approach is research and development-based with a strong focus on practice, hands-on experience, and problem solving. This approach drives our research as well as our teaching, while we aim to qualify our graduates to detect, analyse and find solutions to the real-world problems of the digital transformation and a sustainable future. The pedagogical concept and the BEng programmes are based upon the internationally recognized concept CDIO.

Your primary tasks will be:

  • Teaching courses and supervising student projects
  • Contributing to the development of the research group including funding, research, innovation, lab facilities expansion, publications and PhD supervision
  • Integrate University-industry collaboration in your teaching and research.

The teaching language of the department is Danish. If you do not speak Danish, you will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.You should be proficient in English.

As formal qualifications you must hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering. You must also have extensive research and publication track record as well as a track record of attracting external funding. If you are applying for the associate professor position, you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
Salary and employment terms and conditions are according to the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, and the career structure for Bachelor of Engineering educations and the Export Engineer education or the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities

The assistant professor position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. DTU’s Tenure Track is an appointment of at most six years, during which you will receive career support in the form of professional and personal guidance. At the end of the tenure track appointment, you will be evaluated by an external assessment committee, who will assess your appointment to a permanent Associate Professorship. Read more about the DTU Tenure Track program at DTU at this homepage.

The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
