The Department of Technology, Management and Economics is strengthening its research within the maritime sector in order to satisfy emerging technological challenges. We therefore invite applications for a tenure track position as assistant professor or a tenured position as associate professor in operations management working with the maritime industry. The department has an acknowledged internationally leading research position within maritime logistics and we seek to strengthen this position further with this recruitment.

The position is part of the Operations Management section and affiliated to the Maritime DTU centre, which coordinates the university’s efforts in the maritime industry with respect to research, education, innovation and public sector consultancy.

The assistant professor position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. Responsibilities and qualifications
You will become part of the scientific staff in an active and ambitious research section and responsibilities include:

  • Performing international leading research within maritime logistics and management
  • External collaboration with the industry, academia and public agencies
  • Dissemination of results in leading international scientific journals and conferences
  • Project management (actively pursuing external funding, leading research projects and dissemination of research to relevant outlets including popular scientific media)
  • Teaching courses and supervising projects on bachelor, master and PhD level. Part of the teaching portfolio will also be to develop new courses or redevelop existing courses.

The assistant or associate professor will furthermore collaborate with other research groups within the department and at DTU.

The successful candidate is expected to take a lead role in developing the teaching in maritime logistics and management and build research relationship with the Danish maritime industry.  You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

You must have solid knowledge and experience with operations management and/or research in maritime logistics and management. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
