The Implementation and Performance Management Section (IPM), placed in the Management Science Division at DTU Management, invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) in Management Studies with a focus on Advanced Technologies. The position is a unique opening to study the role of advanced technologies, beyond digital, in shaping management processes and organizational practice.

This is an opportunity to do pioneering research in management studies while linking to the DTU’s broader ecosystem of technological knowledge.

The IPM Section within the department of DTU Management (Technology, Management and Economics) provides a supportive research environment and has longstanding expertise in advanced technologies together with close connections to companies, policymakers, and other societal stakeholders.

Advanced technologies ranging from digitalization to additive manufacturing and beyond are radically shaping global managerial landscapes. The IPM section engages in research that develops but also critically explores the potential and impact of such technologies on organizations and people within. Ongoing research projects include algorithmic management, the study of hybrid work, the development of cognitive technologies, and deep science networks in discovery-driven research. The findings are published in leading international research journals and also shared with local communities and industry.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The key responsibilities of the new professor are:

  • Engaging in pioneering research in the intersection of management and advanced technologies
  • Publishing in leading/high-ranking international academic journals
  • Teaching and supervising at undergraduate and graduate level
  • Collaboration externally with international academia, industry, and public agencies and internally within the university as a whole
  • Contributing to the formulation of the research agenda on advanced technologies shaping management within the IPM Section and the Management Science Division
  • Attracting grants and securing external funding for research projects

The successful candidate is expected to, and supported in developing academic visibility and eventual research leadership within an international community of colleagues. There is also an opportunity to collaborate with, and contribute to, the Executive MBA program at DTU Learn for Life.

The assistant professor position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. As an assistant or associate professor at DTU, you are expected to teach bachelor and master level courses. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
