DTU Engineering Technology bridges research with problem solving through university-industry collaboration that takes form with and without student involvement. For example by industry cases in teaching, industry cases driving student projects and in collaboration between employees and industry.

DTU Engineering Technology invites applicants for a position as DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Environmental engineering in the research group Mobility, Environment, and Infrastructure. You will be a driving force in developing digitalization in the water sector for more sustainable design, construction and operation. The research group consists of 5 colleagues and is expected to grow in the next years by addition of PhD-students. Your contribution will strengthen the group’s sustainability profile in the hydrological cycle, ground water planning and protection, soil and groundwater pollution and remediation, storm water and climate adaption and waste water utilities.

The assistant professor position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be, contributing to DTU’s strategic aim towards being Europe’s best Engineering education. We provide courses and instruction that feed into a number of DTU’s Bachelor in Engineering (BEng) Programmes as well as a range of continuing education formats, including Diploma Programmes. Our approach is research and development-based with a strong focus on professional practice, hands-on experience, problem solving and business readiness.  Qualifying our graduates to detect, analyse and find solutions to real-world challenges and technical problems across engineering disciplines and in practice-based, complex and development-oriented job functions. At DTU, the pedagogical concept and the BEng programmes are based upon the internationally recognized concept CDIO.

Your focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within digitalization of the water sector for the development of sustainable and resilient designs, constructions and operation. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. University-industry collaboration will characterize your teaching and research, why we value practical and theoretical experience with designing, implementing and operation of elements of the water management: planning, water protection, water contamination and remediation and utility services. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise BEng and BSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD students
  • Supervise students during internships
  • Course responsible for courses within ground water, storm water, sewage water and soil and ground water pollution, eg course number 62280 - Natural drainage and water supply, and 62389 - Climate adaption and cloud burst for Run off Water

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. The teaching language of the department is Danish. Coming from abroad you will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

As formal qualification you must hold either a MSc and at least 3 years relevant experience or a PhD degree (or equivalent) according to the career structure, you are applying for. If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
Salary and employment terms and conditions are according to the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, and the career structure for Bachelor of Engineering educations and the Export Engineer education or the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities

The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
