About center for Vaccine Research
The SSI Center for Vaccine research (CVR) is housing a world-leading vaccine research and clinical program directed against some of the major global infectious diseases (Tuberculosis and Chlamydia) and cancer. CVR consists of Department of Infectious Immunology and the Vaccine Development Department. The center focuses on research and development of next-generation vaccines and diagnostic tools. CVR is a translational research center that efficient progress promising results from basic research into development and clinical trials. Currently, CVR’s activities in clinical trials are increasing with both Tuberculosis and Chlamydia vaccine trials ongoing, as well as novel approaches in cancer immunotherapy. We collaborate closely with a large number of institutions and are externally funded by e.g. the European Commission and NIH.

About the vaccine development department
The vaccine development department translates breakthroughs from the basic research groups to drug products and clinical trial data. The department is a “one stop shop” where projects are organized in a matrix organization and the department sections are involved from cloning to clinical data.  The department is divided in four different sections; handling development of API production, formulation of drug products including development and quality control analyses, animal housing and pre- clinical and clinical trials. The department is responsible for delivering IMP’s to clinical trials and secure all processes are in compliance with current GxP and GDPR rules. To support the production and test, the department have a GMP up- and downstream pilot-plant and a GMP animal facility at its disposal. 

About the position
You will be a member of the CVR management board consisting of the Executive VP, Director for Infectious Disease Immunology and you, as the Director for Vaccine development. CVR management board outline strategic decisions for CVR’s vaccine and diagnostic programs.

Your primary tasks will be:

  • Continuously develop and execute the CVR’s strategies for vaccine development
  • Secure implementation of project plans and facilitate achievement outlined goals
  • Communicate and maintain relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Daily management of section managers and project leaders including resource allocation across the projects
  • Overall responsible for the GxP and GDPR compliance in the department
  • Responsible for department economy
  • Contract negotiation with external suppliers.

Required qualifications
You have a relevant scientific education combined with a minimum of five years of working experience preferably within pharmaceutical development and you are an experienced leader of teams and projects.

Furthermore, we are looking for candidates who have:

  • Experiences with API and IMP production
  • Knowledge of animal model testing
  • Extensive GxP experience
  • Experience with budget management
  • Knowledge of immunology and vaccines is advantageous
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English and Danish both orally and in writing

You got strong interpersonal and communication skills. You work independently, but you are a team player who is motivated by creating results through others. You have great personal drive, a positive mindset and take interest in your colleagues.

Terms of employment
The employment will be in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement on contractual employment of managers in the state. The position is placed in group 1 corresponding to salary framework 37.
