We are looking for an experienced Lab Manager within Digital technologies who can manage our lab facilities and support applied digital projects in partnership with startups, students and established companies.

DTU Skylab is DTU’s Innovation hub. We are a vibrant community supporting diverse activities such as; curricular courses, company collaborations and startup support. In the 8 years that DTU Skylab has existed it has become a dynamic innovation hub with more than 5000 m2 of offices, teaching facilities, workshops and laboratories.

We are approx. 50 full time employees organized in 4 sections. We pride ourselves on having an informal culture where we can laugh, party and be very serious about what we do. We love our users and love to tell all the great stories about the projects running in DTU Skylab, such as; building rockets, farming fish, developing laboratory robots, student associations and international summits just to mention a few.

It is a challenging job in a very dynamic environment with both business suits and welding masks. You will become a part of a culture and organization in constant rapid development, and you will have a lot of influence on this development.

Digital Lab offers high-quality support for students and startups with a digital backbone and has an ambition “to make the digital real”.

Your primary tasks will be:

  • Technical coaching and guidance of students, startups and researchers
  • Maintenance of facilities and lab infrastructure
  • Design and execute workshops for upskilling our users in digital technology
  • Take ownership of our data-gathering infrastructure
  • Spar with other Skylab colleagues around the design of hackathons, sprints and events
  • Design and execute activities for our digital community
  • Being proactive in your engagement within DTU’s research and student communities

You will be a part of the Technology Section consisting of 12 colleagues with know-how and hands-on expertise in DTU Skylab’s four technology tracks; Fabrication, Digitalisation, Natural Science and Sustainable Food Systems.

We expect that:

  • You have an academic or technical background that is relevant to the field of digital innovation
  • You have strong skills within programming, engineering, embedded design or other relevant technical areas
  • You are interested in emerging technical areas – AI, XR, Blockchain, IoT etc.
  • You have experience from the startup, makerspace or academic lab environments
  • You are self-organising and can plan budget and resource allocation
  • You are a team-player and thrive in a cross-functional interdisciplinary environment
  • You have good communication and relational skills

You will become a part of our culture and contribute to and build upon the effort that has been established in the first 8 years of DTU Skylab’s journey – we need you to be part of forming the culture along with the other Skylabbers going forward.

DTU Skylab is both an innovation environment with startups and company collaborations, and an ambitious learning environment where we train skilled engineers with a desire to make a difference in the world. 

The Digital Lab was established in close collaboration with DTU Compute and has an ongoing collaboration with students and researchers from this and other DTU departments.

Terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or in accordance with the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for Office Clerks, Laboratory Technicians, and IT staff (HK/stat).

The position is to be filled no later than 1 August 2022 or as soon as possible. You will refer to Kristine Garde, Head of Technology Section.

You will be employed at DTU Skylab and the workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
