and if you want to be the be a key player in this next step in our digital transformation, you are our new Data Scientist.

As Data Scientist in Vibration Diagnostic Development, you will be a part of a global team with data scientists and specialists in both Brande, Denmark and in Pamplona, Spain, who are dedicated to development of an industry leading Python based diagnostic platform for vibration diagnostics. The Vibration Diagnostic team is divided in two teams - a development team and an operational team with each their team lead, but we work as one team. In your new position, you will report to the team lead of Vibration Diagnostics Development and working out of our Brande office location.
We are on the journey towards a more Agile setup, so it can be expected to take part in cross organizational SCRUM teams as well.
As Data Scientist in the Vibration Diagnostic Development team, you will have a great opportunity to work with the newest technologies within data science and through this influence future technologies.

Vibration Diagnostics is a part of our newly formed Digital Organization and originating from one of the three pillars in the strategy for the company that is: Digitalization - Turn data into value.
Siemens Gamesa produces and sell wind turbines, but an ever growing marked for targeted remote diagnostic troubleshooting and extended prewarning time for serious damages, has led to significant growth in our diagnostic services. Consequently, the Vibration Diagnostic Development team is also growing, and this position will add to the team, which today consist of 12 employees in Denmark and Spain. As our services are sold to costumers and plays an important role during the warranty period, working in Vibration Diagnostics brings value to the business by ensuring we meet new demands and to retain our position as world class providers of diagnostic advices, based on Big Data, PCA, Machine Learning and Neural Networks, and is something to be proud of.

As Data Scientist, you will take part in shaping the future wind turbine diagnostics by being responsible for the development and implementation of diagnostic models and measurement setup for drive trains. With your ability to apply your analytical skills you will be able to recognize patterns in data and develop damage detection algorithms for drive trains based on physical characteristics and PCA/ML, with a strong focus on minimizing false positives. In this work you will be in contact with several internal stakeholders to gather the needed knowledge for carrying out your work.

More specifically, your work will cover three main points:
Responsible for new diagnostic algorithm development and implementation

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions
  • Identify failure patterns in data, clean and extract features based profound knowledge of data cleansing, signal processing, applied math’s and domain knowledge of the physics and fracture patterns in question (bearings, gears etc.)
  • Innovation – develop new tailored algorithms / methods based on knowledge on sophisticated mathematical / statistical approaches like PCA, Machine Learning, Neural Networks etc.

Responsible for the Vibration Diagnostic service/product

  • Continuous development and upkeeping of the core system application in Python, based on knowledge on scientific programming
  • Continuous development and upkeeping of the cloud-based backend databases for the application

Responsible for collected data from turbines

  • Ensure correct measurement setup in turbines in cooperation with specialists.

What you need to make a difference

The job requires skills within data science, SQL, NoSQL and Matlab/Python.
The preferred candidate have a MSc or PhD degree within the fields of signal processing, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.
You have 2+ years of experience working with data science and/or pattern recognition and you have knowledge of condition monitoring systems and the dynamics of drive train components. In your career, you have gained experience in statistical analysis data science and performing analytics on large data sets and a profound knowledge about scientific programming (Python, Matlab, R etc.), preferably from an industrial enterprise.
You have an analytical and innovative mindset. You are not afraid of working with terabytes of data and you have extensive knowledge about signal processing like applying PCA, ML and DL methods on data. Cloud experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
It comes naturally to you to build and maintain good and rewarding relationships and you are highly result-oriented with strong ownership attitude and you are able to drive tasks independently, as well as collaborating as part of a team.
Furthermore, you possess excellent English skills, both orally and written while Danish language skills are a plus, but not a requirement.
