Data Science/Machine Learning Intern hos CURVEx

The brainscanner is the enabler, with the mobile platform being the key component in data analysis and interpretation. You will be play a key role is establishing the data processing pipelines (from backend, in TensorFlow into the app), and will be provided the liberty of exploring use cases, to come with suggestions on ways to analyse the signal to discover insights, to help users improve their mental health and cognitive performance through early detection/prediction and personalized feedback.

You will help us apply data processing techniques and ML to our time-series data (frequency bands and raw EEG signal) to extract useful features to learn more about the users mental health. You will also be applying ML to the historic data, based on tags provided by the user to conduct pattern recognition to identify factors that influence the users mental state.

You will be working closely with our Scientific Director (who has a background in data/cognitive science), where you will sync-up, brainstorm and come up with novel ways to analyse the signal and present useful insights to the user over our mobile app.
We use Firebase as our database for our mobile app, and Firebase allows the implementation of TensorFlow -- which is what you will be using to implement your data processing magic.

Competence - Who are you?:

• A bachelors or master’s degree or higher university degree in data science, cognitive science, machine learning, AI, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or related technical fields
• Solid programming skills in Python and knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Exceptional English skills, both spoken and in writing.
• Passion for ML/AI and experience with one or several of the deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit-Learn
• Experience with model validation, accuracy, verification and visualization
• Have knowledge of math, probability, statistics, and algorithms
• Apply data mining techniques using state-of-the-art research, methods, pinpointing trends, correlations, and patterns in a complicated data set
• Manage data pipelining surrounding the development of ML model
• Independent worker and curious scientific/research oriented mindset

Add-on competences:

• Knowledge about Firebase (Firestore structure and usage)
• Experience with Flutter when we need to integrate the ML layer into the app
• Past experience working with bio signals (EEG, ECG, HR etc.) or signal processing experience is a plus
• Experience in addressing research problems and being able to frame research ideas to fit business purposes

Following visions with CURVEX, where you will play a pivotal role in the creation of our data analysis interface:

1. Create a neurofeedback application where users can train their mind to remain in a state (focus or relaxation) by providing responsive feedback (visual or audio feedback) based on their brain activity.
2. Establishing a baseline of the users brain activity, with the aim to provide timely insights and notifications when the users enter peak focus states and when they might be entering a more stressed states, thus enabling the prevention of chronic stress.

Starting date: As soon a possible

Duration: 3-6months, with a possibility of extension and/or a possibility of hiring on a part-time/full-time basis.

Type: We welcome all students (who are studying or who have already graduated) to apply for this role. It is an unpaid internship. We also invite students who are interested to do their Bachelors or Master thesis in collaboration with our company.
