Your Responsibilities as a Data Engineer:
In your role as a data engineer, your main responsibilities will be to phase-in, shape, maintain and develop our new Azure data platform encompassing tasks such as:

  • Development and improvement of batch and streaming ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Migration of legacy pipelines to the cloud
  • Data modelling
  • CI/CD pipeline setup
  • Documentation

At Abacus Medicine, we have a highly dynamic hybrid system landscape where most of our major enterprise systems are continuously extended with advanced data management features. Hence, an important part of your role will also be to evaluate which of these many source system opportunities we should act on and when. Particularly, you will be working closely together with your colleagues within BI as well as with our data science and reporting teams in the Business Analytics Department.

Are You the Right Candidate?
To succeed in the job it is important that you are talented technically and find it motivating to provide high quality data services that the entire organisation relies on for decision-making. You enjoy working in teams as well as independently and have for the ability to engage with the core stakeholders on the design of new pipelines as well as the details and working processes of existing data jobs. Concretely, we expect you to have:

  • A degree in computer science, engineering or a similar discipline
  • Solid knowledge of the Azure platform, especially with regard to the data-stack (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks)
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes, including test automation and release pipelines
  • Good programming skills on a predominantly Microsoft stack (C#, SQL)
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Your Future Colleagues
In the Business Intelligence Department, we are responsible for the development and maintenance of Abacus Medicine’s data warehouse, as well as a core proprietary software suite supporting decision-making and daily processes for trading on the European medicine market. The team consists of 7 in-house software developers and engineers. Our motivation is to create innovate data-driven solutions to core business problems in a friendly and professional environment.
