Control Engineer for offshore wind farm control systems
 

Would you like to participate in the design, commissioning and testing of power control systems for our offshore wind farms?

Join us and become Control Engineer in the SCADA WTG team where you and your colleagues will be responsible for all engineering phases within the automation of wind turbines in offshore wind power plants. Our tasks include the design and specification of wind farm automation systems, quality assurance and project management.

The team is part of the SCADA department in Offshore EPC, which and also covers the SCADA SCS & Metering, SCADA Communication and SCADA Management areas. You’ll report to the manager of SCADA WTG.

Your key tasks will be to

  • be responsible for technical requirements in contracts with our suppliers in relation to the control and monitoring of wind turbines
  • handle project-related contractual and technical communication with suppliers and authorities and manage project-related activities required for the delivery of the wind turbine and wind farm control systems
  • design, parametrise and test control systems for active power, reactive power and voltage control
  • plan, manage and participate in the QA processes (FAT/SAT/SIT), commissioning and compliance testing of control systems as well as the handover to Operations
  • offer specialist support to our organisation regarding the operation and management of offshore wind farms.

Your main focus will be on analysing, executing and managing the wind farm and wind turbine control, SCADA and compliance technical aspects of our asset projects under construction. Your work will also involve other onshore and offshore power regulating components such as shunt reactors and DRC/STATCOMs and may in some cases expand into other disciplines, e.g. metering or substation control. 

Most of your tasks will require a close collaboration with colleauges from power system analysis, network and telecommunications.

Your competences include that you

  • have a master's degree in electrical engineering and substantial practical experience with industrial automation and control systems, preferably from the energy sector
  • master the principles of control system engineering and are able to collect and work with large datasets from dynamic systems
  • have experience with technical project management, including working with contract documents and technical standards
  • have a basic understanding of panel design, networks/communication and preferably also hands-on experience with industrial data protocols such as IEC 60870-5-104, OPC XML and OPC UA
  • speak and write English fluently as we operate in an international environment.

Having a strong personal drive, you’re able to make and implement decisions and take the leading role in order to achieve results. You can prioritise your tasks and find the appropriate balance between delegation and personal execution of tasks.

Some of your activities will take place at our onshore or offshore substations, at the fabrication yards or at our suppliers’ facilities. You should expect approx. 1.5 months of travelling per year.
