Join us as our new Computational Strain Engineer, Enzyme Research, Denmark 
We are seeking a Computational Strain Engineer for Novozymes’ production strain technology area in Denmark. You will bring solid experience from engineering in bacterial or filamentous fungal hosts. You team up with dedicated molecular biologists, data scientist, and machine learning experts to design high-yield production strains as well as help develop the future data-driven workflows for digital strain construction. 
 
To succeed you must have:  
We expect you to cover the majority of the following qualifications and experiences: 

  • A PhD in bioinformatics, microbial genomics, molecular biology, fermentation technology or related fields 
  • Hands-on experience with genetic engineering of microbes, or close collaboration with genetic engineers 
  • A track record of working with comparative genomics, recombinant protein expression, enzyme discovery and/or fermentation through programmatic, data-driven approaches
  • Experience setting up bioinformatics pipelines for handling NGS/omics data 
  • Proficient in Python for solving scientific/technical problems and comfortable working with a common shared code stack, e.g. through Git. 
  • You are familiar with basic principles within machine learning and prefer to approach problem-solving by data-driven means 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to network locally and internationally 

 
Novozymes R&D continue to grow it’s digital and automation capabilities and you will help strengthen genomics and large scale lab data accumulation for the future end-to-end strain engineering workflows. You will be affiliated with two teams of dedicated scientists with broad competences within molecular biology, automation, machine learning, strain construction and enzyme discovery. We bring these competences together to deliver new enzymes that help our customers optimize their processes, save energy, and replace harmful chemicals.

This job will be located at Lyngby and Bagsværd, Denmark.
