CMO Manager

About the department
CMO Operations is a sub unit in Global Sales & Operations Planning, that is a part of Global Operations. In Global Operations we take care of all production, contract manufacturing and distribution of products for Chr. Hansen. The primary role of CMO Operations is to monitor and control the production handled by Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and ensure reliable delivery of products from the CMOs to our respective customers. Our CMOs are located all over the world. 

You will join a newly established area within Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), a department with overall 22 highly dedicated colleagues.

The position
As CMO Operations Manager in CMO Operations, your main objective is to ensure stable and reliable delivery of products from our CMOs. This is done in close collaboration with our planning departments.  Your job is to be the overall responsible for selected CMOs and run our reporting processes, your tasks include:

  • Manage CMOs, including sanctioning in case of poor performance or transfer to new CMO
  • Responsible for oversight of capacity, compliance, quality, manufacturing readiness and activities at selected CMO
  • Securing and monitoring CMO performance, from end to end, according to contractual obligations
  • Ensuring cost efficiency and flexibility of operations
  • Driving all optimization projects around CMOs
  • Defining robust and ambitious KPIs for CMOs, incl. follow-up
  • Support New Product Development (NPDs) and Customer Development Projects (CDPs) to the extent needed to ensure new projects enter Global Operations in a successful manner
  • Build and align operating model across CMOs within each category, e.g. freeze drying or capsule production
  • Identify and implement process improvements within Chr. Hansen regarding CMO management in order to create a strong foundation for further growth within area

You will have a wide range of stakeholders, both internally in Chr. Hansen and at our CMOs. You will need good communication skills and a structured approach to the tasks at hand, in order to gain commitment from both internal and external stakeholders.

Since our CMOs are located around the world; travel activity is expected between 15-25 days per year.

Qualifications
You hold an academic degree within a relevant discipline e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain or have relevant experience, typically obtained from a biotech production, with at least a 5 year experience in working in a CMO environment.

You have a positive and open mind-set and you are good at building relationships and communicating across cultures. You enjoy working independently and proactively in a dynamic environment, with many tasks to coordinate and execute on, changing priorities and strict deadlines. You have a strong quality mind-set and solid analytical skills. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
