The position
During your internship, you will be supporting the different activities in the cell therapy discovery department ranging from the differentiation of stem cells to different cell types and characterising the final product to the generation of new genome-edited cell lines. You will be participating in the daily work in the laboratory and interacting with both technicians and scientists in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the experiment. As part of the position, you will be helping on a daily basis in organising/maintaining laboratory consumables/equipment, including stocking up the labs.

Practicalities:

  • Internship period: 6 months (with a possible extension of up to an additional 6 months)
  • Working hours: Full-time (25-37 hours a week)
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • A Danish full-time work permit is required

Qualifications
We are looking for an excellent student, passionate about stem cell biology and molecular assays, to join us as an intern. You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a similar field

  • Good understanding of cell signalling processes and molecular biology in general
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel (with supervision)
  • Sound personal judgment for decision-making during the daily work
  • Strong work ethics and willingness to take responsibility for own projects and progression
  • Fluency in English

As a person, you are an outgoing team player, with a well-structured and diligent approach to work, who would thrive in an innovative environment and bring a can-do attitude.

Preferably, hands-on experience with one or more of the following methods: cell culture of mammalian cells and specifically pluripotent stem cells, cloning, qPCR, Immunofluorescence, fluorescent and confocal microscopy.

About the department
You will be part of an international group of dedicated employees, composed of scientists, laboratory technicians, and student workers, focusing on the translation of stem cell-based cell therapies into the clinic. Promising proof-of-principle studies show that cell therapies can address unmet medical needs in a wide range of indications, including, but not limited to, the implantation of stem cell-derived pancreatic beta-cells and dopaminergic neurons to treat diabetes and Parkinson’s disease, respectively.
