As a new strategical area, we are given the task to reduce the emission on vessels in service together with our colleagues from our service department. We, therefore, have to expand our department with two more control engineers.

As Automation Engineer you will take part in developing, implementing and testing control strategies and automation solutions for the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems on a marine engine. Systems that controls engine speed, hydraulic pressure, actuation of fuel injection, fuel supply systems and much more.

Based on a good understanding of combustion systems and mechanical systems, we are designing the control strategies for the engines in cooperation with the other departments located here in Copenhagen - but also in Augsburg, Germany. The solutions are implemented in the engine’s control system via the PLC programming language. The software is installed on the engines using our own MAN-ES hardware platform. We test our software using both PC, our own hardware in the loop test facilities and on engine in service.

Your primary tasks will be to utilize the potential of different engine systems in order to develop the best possible automation or control system solution, including:

  • Clarification and definition of technical requirements for new automation products and customer projects
  • Development and programming of new retrofit solutions for marine engine automation systems
  • Creation of function descriptions incl. technical documentation of new automation products
  • Pro-active cooperation in the function development of engine automation systems
  • Concept definition and detailing of circuit diagrams for retrofit and upgrade projects incl. release management

  • Successfully completed studies in mechatronics, electrical engineering or comparable technical education with professional experience in the field of system automation

After education, the design and development of the function needed starts and we estimate a maximum of 10% of the annual working time wil be used for travel for the purpose of initial commissioning, testing on the testbed, etc.

In your daily work you will have contact with our colleagues and customers worldwide, primarily in written support and assistance.

Who am I?
We imagine that our new colleague

  • holds a degree in automation, mechanical or electrical engineering, with a particular interest in mechanics and dynamic systems
  • has experience with and interest in PLC programming
  • has 3-5 (or more) years of experience from a similar position or is an exceptional newly grad willing to take on a challenge

Furthermore, you would fit well into the team and our way of working if you are independent and take plenty of initiative, and has the ability and enjoy following a project from the start-up phase to the end, including delivery.

How is my new team?
