DTU Compute's section for Algorithms, Logic, and Graphs (AlgoLoG) invites applications for our next assistant or associate professor within logic and logic-based artificial intelligence or algorithms and data structures. The AlgoLoG section focuses on research in the foundations of computer science and discrete mathematics and application in industry.  We are looking for outstanding researchers with an innovative mindset and intellectual curiosity to strengthen and complement the research and teaching of section. We offer a world-class research environment at DTU, excellent opportunities for industrial collaborations and innovation, and teaching ambitious engineering students. 

The university is in the greater Copenhagen area, which is acknowledged for its excellent standards of living, childcare and welfare system.

Responsibilities and qualifications
We seek ambitious candidates with a strong research focus as well as an ambition to deliver high-quality teaching, and envision the position to help expand the section’s research within one of the following areas:

  • Logic and logic-based artificial intelligence.
  • Algorithms and data structures.

You will work closely with colleagues at the AlgoLoG section. You are expected to seek out collaboration with academic and industrial partners nationally and internationally.  You will be responsible for teaching courses and supervise students at all levels (including BSc, MSc, and PhD). You should be able to teach within:

  • Introductory courses on programming, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and discrete mathematics.
  • Advanced courses within logic, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and/or data structures.

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. Starting date is 1 January 2023 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
