Are you interested in creating buildings of tomorrow, where you combine knowledge from domain experts in building design, building physic, energy consumption, acoustic, structural and geotechnical engineering to generate sustainable buildings with an excellent indoor climate at an affordable price?

DTU Civil Engineering is seeking an associate professor in the Section for Design and Processes who has a holistic approach to creating buildings and building components. As more and more building components have multiple functions, the processes leading to the design needs to be integrated, taking different aspects into account. Therefore, you must both have an interest in engineering design and design processes and adjecent disciplines.

The Section for Design and Processes at DTU Civil Engineering covers the design of new facilities as well as retrofitting of existing facilities in the built environment based on research within building design in Denmark and the Arctic, architectural engineering, fire safety, process modelling, and interoperable building information modelling. We have a holistic cross-disciplinary approach and always strive to include partners in our research activities to develop technical solutions that can enable the green transition of the built environment.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will aim at integrating different engineering disciplines in a design process to create solutions that meets the requested requirements.We expect you to be familiar with design processes and production methods in the construction industry supported by digital tools, including digital twins. You have a comprehensive understanding of structural systems and how loads are transferred to the foundations. We expect you to design building components from recycling as well as new materials with disassembly in mind. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise BEng., BSc., MSc. and PhD students
  • Perform research and innovation projects in a collaborative environment
  • Attract externally funding for research
  • Disseminate research and innovation results through scientific journals and dissemination channels towards the industry
  • Administrative and academic duties

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union. Further information on qualification
