Department of Science and Environment, Roskilde University, invites applications for 1-2 positions as Assistant Professors of Mathematics from 1 September 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is limited to 3 years.

In announcing the position, the Department looks to strengthen its research in mathematics including statistics/biostatistics. The Department is interested in applicants, whose research and teaching profile includes an active interest in building interdisciplinary research and education collaboration with natural sciences. We expect you to be willing and able to teach broadly within mathematics and statistics at bachelor and master level

Department of Science and Environment is one of four departments at Roskilde University. The Department conducts basic and applied research within mathematics, medical biology, physics, molecular biology, environmental sciences, and chemistry. Bachelor and Master programs are offered within these areas. Research and education within the fields takes place in a collaborative and interdisciplinary university environment also spanning collaboration with the other departments covering social sciences and humanities where relevant. The department is organised in four Sections comprising the research and education activities.

The Assistant Professor will be affiliated with the Section of Mathematics and Physics. The group’s research areas covers mathematical modelling of human diseases, dynamical systems, highly viscous liquids, history of physics and physics education, and biomolecular systems. Currently the Section hosts four RUC centers: Glass and Time, FRUSTMI, PandemiX and Center for Mathematical Modeling – Human Health and Diseases. The Section consists of 18 professors, associate professors and assistant professors as well as a varying number of Ph.D. students, postdocs, and technical staff with a total staff number around 50.
