At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic Systems, a position as Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Trust is open for appointment from 1 Oktober 2018 or soon thereafter. The position is open for a period of 3 years. The workplace is Center for Communication, Media and Information Technologies (CMI), Aalborg University Copenhagen.

Job description
Research areas include advanced ICT services and service architectures with a focus on security, trust and privacy, including cybersecurity and identity and access management (IAM) at an enterprise level. Of high importance is compentency in privacy, including privacy by design, applied cryptography and authentication and authorization methods. Furthermore, knowledge on one or more of the following is desirable: Distributed ledgers and BlockChain technology, Internet of Things (IoT) security; distributed systems; lightweight programming for mobile devices; and regulatory frameworks and standards such as GDPR and ISO 27001. 

The applicant is further expected to take part in a multi-disciplinary research environment and to demonstrate: a relevant publication record during the last 3-5 years, international academic activity, and experience in research collaborations.

Teaching will primarily be on courses and projects within the two engineering programmes on “IT, Communication and New Media” (BSc) and “Innovative Communication Technologies and Entrepreneurship” (MSc). The teaching areas include network and application security, IoT security, identity and access management, and cybersecurity and trust. This includes encryption protocols; IoT security; multi-factor authentication; FIDO Alliance; JSON Web Tokens; technologies for trust and privacy protection; distributed ledger technologies; risk assessment; and compliance with information security standards. The applicant should document relevant teaching experience and student project supervision in the last 3-5 years.

Qualification requirements:
Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD-level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. 

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).

  • Your curriculum vitae, including personal data, educational background, scientific qualifications, dissemination skills, participation in committees and boards, and additional qualifications relevant for the position.

  • Publications you wish to be considered by the assessment committee. You may attach up to 5 publications.
  • A specification of your teaching qualifications relative to the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed you must include an explanation for its absence.
  • References/recommendations.
