ASIC Designer for Oticon
We are looking for a digital ASIC design engineer for our digital ASIC design and verification team. The team is responsible for pre-silicon digital and SoC development for all existing and future hearing instruments. Our tasks consist of a mixture own design such as audio digital signal processors and integration of third-party IP such as general purpose MCUs. We are working with state-of-the-art silicon technologies, EDA tools, and methodologies. Our silicon platform is used for all the hot and cool stuff such as keyword spotting using artificial intelligence and Electroencephalography. Although the final use is cutting edge, it is still based on good and solid digital implementation.

The technical challenge: Design of ultra-low power components
At Oticon, we take part in developing best in class hearing solutions and try to bound the limits of what is possible at all. Oticon is a large, growing company in the medical-technical industry where our +600 engineers are all committed to deliver well-made, high tech solutions for hearing impaired people worldwide. In your new job, you will become part of Oticon’s digital IC team, which is responsible for designing and developing the digital components for the different ICs used in our hearing aids. The team also creates the tools and flows used in developing the ICs.

The components, that you are going to help us to develop, are characterized by extremely low power consumption and high integration, while also being easy to manufacture in large volumes. To achieve this, we constantly push the technology to its limits and focus on smart design. You can look forward to being involved in all phases of the development and design from pre-study to evaluation of the final IC. Thus, you will be involved in analyzing concepts, defining requirements for processors, design, documentation, verification with low level Firmware and Software plus lab testing.

Solid understanding of ASIC design
We are looking for a designer who takes pride in his/her profession and the quality of work. Someone who can strengthen the team - or has the desire and potential to develop into our new specialist. Therefore, we expect you to come along with a MSc. in Digital Design and overall a lot of talent and potential within digital IC design, Hardware, audio signal processing, and low power design. Either you are an experienced designer, who can strengthen the team in one or more of the following areas, or you have the desire and potential to develop into our new specialist.

You are familiar with all or some of the following:

  • Solid knowledge of standard design methodologies for digital IC
  • Solid knowledge of Processor technologies, bus protocols, memory hierarchy, boot principles, etc., experience with RISC/ARM processors is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of rtl
  • Knowledge about Multi-Processor SoC design with insight of physical aspect like clocking, reset, power management etc., knowledge of Network-on-Chip is a plus
  • Ability to analyze a system-level design and partition between HW implementation and SW control
  • General knowledge of physical design including logic synthesis, timing constraints, timing closure, STA, gate level simulation, equivalence checking, etc.
  • General knowledge of common peripherals such as efuse, Flash, I3C, I2S, (quad) SPI, memory BIST etc.
  • Writing technical design documentation
  • Hands-on lab evaluation

As a person, you have a passion for digital ASIC design and an eye for quality. You see the benefit in cooperation and mutual knowledge sharing with your colleagues, and you have a positive attitude. You have a sense for details, while still being able to maintain an overview and meet your deadlines. You work well in a self-driven environment based on freedom under responsibility.
