Application Scientist for Fresh Dairy Tech Support (temporary position) (3325)

About the position / Who are we looking for
We are looking for an Application Scientist to join our Fresh Dairy Application Department for Tech Support in Hørsholm. We are part of the Global Application organization within our Food Cultures and Enzymes business unit, the largest Business Unit within Chr. Hansen. 

The position is a temporary position from approx.. 1.2.2019 to 1.3.2020, replacing an employee going on maternity leave.

Your responsibilities
In Fresh Dairy, Tech Support we are doing application support on cultures (lactic acid bacteria) and enzymes that we are producing and selling in Chr. Hansen. We support with troubleshooting and training on production of fermented milk products and lactose free milk, and help on how to produce new or improved milk products, and also on products based on vegetable bases as oat and soy.

We are doing this through interactions with customers, either directly during visits to our site, at the customer, and often through our sales team and technical teams.

We produce milk products in our modern pilot plant as part of the application support, as well as to show to our customers how our products perform in milk applications.

Your main responsibilities will be to provide technical support on our products for Fresh Dairy, including:

  • Support customers with high-class technical advice
  • Plan, perform and report on trials made in our application technology centre and lab in collaboration with the colleagues in the team
  • Participate in customer meetings at our site
  • Participate in training of customers and colleagues
  • Collaborate with numerous stakeholders inside and outside the organization

Your personal profile
For this position, we request a solid background in food science and technology. We encourage self-driven candidates that are passionate about milk products, bacterial food cultures and enzymes, and production and characterization of milk products.

In addition, you 

  • Hold a MSc/PhD background in food/dairy/bio science & technology or equivalent (mandatory)
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English 
  • Enjoy working in an international environment and have multicultural understanding
  • Are creative, energetic with a good sense of humour, and capable of making things work to ensure progress with a focus on speed, results and quality

Having industrial experience within dairy, dietary supplement or pharmaceutical products is a plus

About the Department
The Fresh Dairy Tech Support consists of 4 laboratory technicians and 5 scientists. We are part of the Fresh Dairy Application which consists of almost 40 people.

Being a central part of the company, we interact daily with production, commercial development, sales and other departments as well as our sister department in France, and also other colleagues around the globe.

We work in a challenging and positive atmosphere in modern office and lab facilities and in our well-equipped pilot dairy– always striving to express everybody’s full potential.
