Academic Technician at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University: Advanced physical property characterisation 951122

The Department of Chemistry is seeking applications for an academic candidate (AC-TAP). The position includes scientific, administrative as well as teaching duties at the Department of Chemistry within inorganic materials chemistry. The intended start date for this appointment is April 1st, 2018, or as soon as possible. 

The candidate is expected to contribute to: 

  • Maintenance, user training and management of the home-built and commercial equipment for measurement of electrical, thermal and magnetic properties of solids
  • Maintenance, user training and management of equipment for thermal analysis.
  • Assistance of users in measurements of electrical, thermal and magnetic properties of solids
  • Management of dedicated laboratories for physical measurement equipment.
  • Assistance in analysis of physical property data.
  • Assistance in development and maintenance of advanced sample environments for use in physical property measurements
  • Participate in teaching of relevant laboratory courses in chemistry.
  • Various duties related to the Department of Chemistry.

The candidate will be a part of a team, which supports research in inorganic and materials chemistry, and which shares some of the daily duties in maintenance of the instrument park at the Department related to the research groups in inorganic chemistry. Furthermore, the candidate will provide support to the involved research groups. 

The successful candidate must have solid understanding of materials chemistry and/or materials physics with a strong background in instrumentation, instrument control software, and physical property data collection. Good technical understanding of advanced physical property measurements including non-standard experiments and data collection is also a request. The candidate should have an MSc or PhD degree in chemistry, physics, nanoscience, chemical engineering or similar.
