Hardware Engineering Team Leader, JABRA

We are looking for an experienced hardware team leader to head our hardware engineering team counting 16 people. Relevant candidates will have strong professional skills within hardware engineering and will have the drive, enthusiasm and ability to co-operate and communicate internally within the global hardware team as well bridging to other departments within R&D. The main responsibility is to provide strong professional competence in leading the hardware design engineering team in terms of professional coaching and daily leadership setting priorities right. You will be a part of a global hardware engineering unit counting 38 employees and you will report to the global Director of hardware engineering.

Your main tasks will be:

  • With your team, you will drive hardware development around our Bluetooth-, DECT- and USB-platforms.
  • Showing leadership by setting the right direction for the team, engaging and motivating the employees providing expertise, guidance and ensuring relevant training of the team.
  • Responsible for resource planning and prioritization in the team to ensure effective support of projects while aligning within the global hardware team to ensure optimal utilization across.
  • Secure daily open and clear communication internally in the team as well as externally.
  • Ensure high-level overview of team status for key milestone deliverables to projects.
  • Assign relevant team resources to assist our life cycle management team with analysis work required to determine mitigation actions needed to solve problems for current products.
  • Continuously focus the team on scouting for new technology opportunities and take part in defining relevant technology studies leaning on the component engineering function, which is anchored in the team.
  • Foster an environment that promotes proactive knowledge sharing throughout the global team.
  • Ensure that all internal and external tools required for the function are in place and managed through your team.
  • Setting objectives for the team to meet strategical targets planned for the area and linking to the company strategy.
  • Drive development dialogue with your team to ensure that competencies and behavior are aligned with company strategies and values.

Skills and experiences:

  • Engineering degree with substantial experience within electronic engineering
  • Experience from leading a medium sized engineering team.
  • Passionate about product engineering and the use of best practices and methodologies.
  • Professional attitude and behavior acting as a role model and promoting respect in the organization.
  • Cooperative honest and open attitude towards ”customers” and colleagues.
  • Ability to set clear direction and or escalate to next level if team or individuals are unable to drive progress forward in a reasonable way, e.g. unable to reach agreement of plan for moving forward.
  • Ability to keep good balance between necessary interference while avoiding micro management.
  • Person that can judge when to solve issues internally and when to escalate. There is a thin line between information and escalation of problems!! 
  • Role model that lead by example in all internal and external activities.
  • Ability to keep calm and professional while injecting calmness into team when issues are ”heating up”, and pressure is applied from outside 
  • Person that can balance management and coaching/mentoring to ensure the team are growing in their performance.
  • Strong communicator in Danish and English language (fluent in both speaking and writing).
  • Able to function effectively in an organization with many interfaces internally and externally.
  • Able to develop a culture of continuous improvement across the department
  • Cultural awareness with preferred experience from working in a global organization
